Campanière
France, Lot (Figs of the World, Orane and Anthony Janicot)
History
Tree discovered in the farm "La Campanière" in the Lot, known since the late nineteenth century, thanks to Orane and Antony for this discovery.
Description
Sturdy tree with falling port.
Uniform (exceptionally biferous) fig, very hardy and fertile, yellowish green-yellow epidermis becoming blue in years of strong sunshine, with pink to red flesh. A long peduncle allows an easy harvest, it can start from mid-August some years and especially spread over more than a month (the first figs being larger than the following). The fruit remains well attached to the tree, allowing a high concentration of sugar, good taste quality, suitable for drying, very productive: figuesdumonde.wordpress.com/2...
