Thank you for another great video. I’ve developed the same affection for plumbing as you have. I really appreciate the information you have shared and the grey water tank you have created. (Best ever!)

You mentioned the tank level monitor in this video (shown at the lower, left of the tank at the end of the video). This looks different than the SeeLevel that is mentioned on your website. Can you elaborate if there is a possibly a different solution that could be connected to a Victron Cerbo GX? Thanks!

At one point we had a different tank monitoring kit that used Safiery external pressure sensors and a Victron Energy GX Tank 140. That is the sensor shown in the video. However, after extensive testing, we ended up preferring the SeeLevel system which is what we have in our store now.

Why not just have a hole in the top of your tank for a vent? With a screen or something to keeps things out?
@VanlifeOutfitters

That might work depending on the tank. Our grey water tank that is featured in the video installs very tightly up against the floor of the van so there wouldn't be much exposure to the open air for venting. Other tanks might work better in that regard. The other consideration is that it is illegal in many places to dispose of grey water tank on the ground and if the tank was full, that location would likely "spill out" from the tank as the waste water sloshed around. Hope that helps.

Do you not get grey water smells in your sink without a hepvo valve there?

No, there is a small trap built into the RV style sink drain I used. Good question!

@@ZachDaudert The Hepvo valves boasts air admittance in their product description. If two Hepvo's were used, one under the van as you did and the other placed vertically under the kitchen sink drain replacing the RV style sink drain you used, would that negate the need for a vent? The sink Hepvo would provide the necessary vent height, no?

You have a good deal of information. I was hoping to see how to did the vent exiting the wall and making it seal tightly and if you added a screen for insects. Yours already had the horseshoe cover on it so I did not see. Do you have pictures of that? Thanks Much!!!

One thing i want to know is how can i do that with the grey tank inside since its not winterproof if its outside.. I'm struggling because the shower drain will be higher than the grey water tank

Also, any link to the black sanitation hose that you used to connect the shower drain to the tank? I think I've found one online but most of the sites have CAD drawing and not actual photos so it's hard to tell if it's similar. Thanks!

I’m wondering if an in-line cheater air admittance valve vent would do the trick for helping the drain without letting in the smell? Home Depot if you’re not familiar with these. $10 or so and available for ABS and PVC.

Hi I see your post is from a year ago and I'm presently struggling with this. I only have a sink that will be connected to the gray tank, but was thinking of installing a Hepvo valve which is supposed to function as an air admittance valve as well

what does the air vent do? what is the purpose in the system?
@VanlifeOutfitters
Жыл бұрын
Hello, the vent allows air to enter the tank when emptying and for air to escape from the tank when filling. If you don't vent, you'll have very slow filling and draining.

All plumbing drainage systems, in a house or a van, are at atmospheric pressure. If you seal the system up tight, you can't get water in or out. So the system needs to be open to the air. I mean...imagine if you take the drain pipe off the P trap in your bathroom sink. Now put your hand over the P trap pipe. If you run water into the sink, it's obvious that your hand would act like a sink stopper and the sink would fill up, not drain. The van plumbing and gray water tank are just the same, except more stuff in the drainage path.
