Enjoying a reindeer stew made over the crackling campfire as the sun sets over the lake. Listening to the cry of the loon. Wilderness, calmness, quiet atmosphere. Only the fire and my lantern as company. This is life!
What is reindeer meat stew?
A traditional nordic dish made from reindeer meat as the main ingredient. Onion, heavy cream and mushrooms of the season are usually included in the stew. The dish is served with boiled potatoes and lingonberries. Yummy!
What lantern is that?
Its a Feuerhand Super Baby lantern. Its flame gives a bright yet calming light adding to the cosy atmosphere. A must have in the pitch dark woods.
What wood stove is that?
It is a Firebox. In my humble opinion one of the greatest camping innovations of all time and a must for any outdoorsman. With this, you have a portable fireplace, a stove and a grill neatly folded in your backpack.
Nice axe, what make is it?
It is a Gränsfors axe, I think its the Hunters axe. Gränsfors Bruk, an axe factory in Sweden, makes one of the worlds best quality traditional axes.
Why don't you use a tent?
Because Im old :) joking aside, a hammock is much more comfortable for your body to sleep in compared to a tent in my opinion and doubles as a very comfortable chair. And you just need two trees to use it.
Are there any dangerous animals in these woods?
No. There are boars, elks, rowdeer and wolf. Maybe a bear or two. But all of them keep their distance to humans. They know humans are dangerous. The most dangerous animal in these woods are the smallest ones - ticks. Ticks can carry deseases.
