I can sense that you were so excited about your first camp. Yonghong almost wanted to give up the first camp in a freezing and windy night and suggested to stay in hotel. At the end, you guys still made it through the first hardship night. It is same as every one's life journey, which is mix with sour, sweet, biter, and spicy. There are time of hardship, time of enjoyment, time of cry, and time of laugh. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures. Please keep safe and healthy.

Off to a great start despite the cold. It’s a magic thing you are able to show the world. What kind of wildlife is there? In Australia when you camp there’s lots of animals that you need to be on the look out for.
@MiriamFollin

There are a lot of eagles and birds of prey, which is pretty cool! And then some smaller rodents that are super cute. There aren’t really any poisonous spiders or snakes, so the ones to look out for would be bears and maybe wolves ( for the kids). Also many nomads here have loose dogs, Tibetan ones ( Tibetan mastiff mixes) that sometimes run free, and are rather aggressive!

I love those shoes too! Mariam. I bought 6 pairs near Le Shan, in 2009. They were selling for $1 a pair. The grandmother in the village made them, and young ones don't make them, I was told, so someone had to travel on feet for 12 kilometers or something like that ti bring it. out. The store fitted the shoes for me, and I was touched. I wanted to pay more, they did not allow it. Since then I have been wanting to make films about them, but I have not... I will post an instagram photo and tag you. I still keep them.

We have just spent the past 8 years living in India (we’re Australian) and high altitude camping is a whole different ball game. Hi, Mariam, I have made a new type of DIY solar tracking on Equatorial mount, and I would like to share it into China too. Its on my other youtube account. Its called "zombie pneumatic solar tracking" for now. (It's made with all Chinese parts anyway). So it is useful to get extra performance out of solar panels and also to keep solar cookers and solar boilers pointed right at the sun all day. I'd love it if you or your husband could check it out and then, maybe make it or pass it on to your friends, and share it across China too. Thanks, Brian

Not sure how ready you are? I for sure would have stayed in hotel second night to get good food and rest. There is a kettle and coffee mug you can plug into car outlet that would help. Also you can get a powerbox to plug things in and charge phones. With that you can get an electric burner for cooking when windy. Dig hole in ground for bathroom and unfoldable cover- would store flat,that you could put around you when using. Hope you carry a shovel.
