Back in 1980, my uncle and a buddy went on a long-distance snowmobile trip in Maine. After travelling on a long markerless trail for several hours, they came out of some woods to open space with a hill to their left that had a cabin on top of it, smoke coming from the chimney. They rode up there, knocked, and a lone fellow inside invited them in to warm up & have coffee. They told him they were lost. He asked where they'd come from. When they told him, he said, "Well, for starters, the US is about 30 miles back in the direction you came from. This is New Brunswick." A different time. 🙂

It's not risky really. I've seen > a baker's dozen baker's dozen black bears on foot (200+, though some were no doubt the same bear.) Been between a mom & cubs twice. That's to be avoided of course. The real think you gotta do is *cook away from sleep spot, do toiletries away, and hang your food & toiletries 20' up 6' out.* Bears are super cool. I love seein' bears. You are WAY more likely to get injured by deadfall than by bears. WAY more. Watch out for those widowmakers. Also black widows & brown recluses & poisonous snakes. All more dangerous statistically than bears.

Awe Steve ❤️ Thank you for lifting me up too! I have watched for many years since your driveway camping video. The driveway was owned by my best friend/soul sister. I send you a GIANT hug from Valemount BC. I hope to see more videos in the future. Maybe one day you should try out the hot springs we have here that are not too well known. Stay strong Steve ❤️

That "pretty impressive chunk of rock" is Chief Mountain in Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. A sacred place for the Blackfeet Nation and the gateway to the Belly River Basin, one of the most beautiful places on Earth (imo)!

Dear Steve, I am so grateful for finding your channel a month or so ago! You are freedom personified.....living your life, sharing the simple things, and showing a million plus people that what really matters is the moment, some shelter, some sustenance, and our loved ones. I am so sad to hear about your loss, and send all my best wishes. In time I hope it helps to realise that the inspiration and encouragement from your Beautiful Wife to put your heart and soul into these videos has touched many many many lives. I also noted that Beautiful Wife took great pleasure in helping the homeless. I can say without doubt that your content will help many many people stay warm and dry, with the wealth of camping knowledge you have shared. If I am ever unfortunate enough to find myself without a home I will remember the tips learned from Camping with Steve, and the encouragement from Beautiful Wife will undoubtably save Lives! Much Love from England!x

Thanks guys and crew! That was fun. I used to live in Sumas, and drove through Lynden to Blaine every day along the border roads - so I get that border stuff! I really enjoyed this trip!! Thank you so so much for sharing with us, and thanks for bringing back some treasured memories. Glad you didn't run into any bears!
