Did this walk 8 years ago and have some wonderful memories of it and watching this ( the best walking video I’ve ever seen of the C to C) I’ve decided that , nearing 70, it’s time I got my boots out again for another challenge. Your journey has been an absolute pleasure to watch and enjoy. Thank you Phil

Abbie, just watched this as I'm planning my trip in May 2020. Saw you getting upset early in the trip and it's nothing strange or unique. I do a lot of solo wildcamping and often turn in to a blubbering mess when I'm in the wild. It's a place to think, contemplate, miss people, and generally let off steam. The views often make you feel like a spec of dust on this planet as they put things into perspective. Waves of panic often come from being alone in a big often inhospitable place. Just remember it's normal, good for you and in most cases (in the UK) you're never "that" far from civilisation. Your video also shows you were emotional on day 2 and the penultimate day. Thinking about the mammoth task ahead and then the mammoth achievement you'd made? Keep it up Abbie, your awesome.

I don't think there's such a thing as 'mental health'. The mind is the problem. And peace comes when the mind is quiet. What troubles us is the incessant thinking and the busy imagination. Freedom is freedom from worry and being present. There is no such thing as 'peace of mind' because the mind is by nature turbulent. You love the outdoors because it helps to free you from all that mental bondage. There are moments of pushback but they pass and you get stronger. Well done Abbie.

Wonderful journey and accomplishment, well done Abbie!!! Throughly enjoyed the views, the ups and the downs. Sometimes it's the little things that can lift our spirits; the flowers, a sudden burst of birdsong, a babbling brook, I've often found forgetfulness from the weariness of the world wuth such things.🌻🌷🌲🦋

Hi Abbie, What a wonderful video of this great walk. I completed the walk back in July this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it is admirable of you to be so honest with your viewers about mental health. Many suffer in silence! I camped right at the top of lining cragg and also Angle tarn in the lake district. I also got lost at Knott but soon got back on track! Another walk which you may or may not be aware of and one that I completed recently is the d'Arcy Dalton way. It runs from South Warwickshire and ends at Waylands Smithy on the Ridgeway. Passes through outstanding countryside, Hamlets, Villages and Churches. I really enjoyed it. It was created in memory of d'Arcy Dalton who was responsible for fighting for keeping rights of way, footpaths and bridleways open for the general public to enjoy. Sandy

Coast to Coast 2008 - 15 days. Physically and mentally exhausting. I had to 'wild-camp' a few nights and I didn't really appreciate any of it until I got home vowing to never do something like it again !! After a day's rest, I was itching to be back out there again. I would love to do it again someday and really take in the beauty of my surroundings rather than seeing them as an obstacle to the end of a journey.

LOVED THIS VIDEO!! I hiked the C2C solo three years ago for my 50th birthday. Watching this brought back so many incredible memories for me. I was watching with my iPhone in my hand scrolling through my pictures that I took on the trail as they synced up with your video. Every two minutes I was pausing the video and showing my iPhone to my wife saying, ‘Look! This is a pic taken at that exact spot!’ She really enjoyed your video too as she was able to see how spectacular and how much effort is put into hiking this trail. I really have no idea how you found the energy not only to make this video but to camp too! I stayed in B&B’s every night and I was so exhausted and sore that I basically collapsed into the bed. Well done on your amazing accomplishment of not only hiking this trail but documenting it so well! Your videos are really good! It’s hard to make these trekking videos interesting and engaging but you did a superb job!! Bravo.

I did this walk a month before you did and am doing it again in May 2021, for different reasons. Any long distance walking, especially on your own, has mental as well as physical challenges. It doesn't matter whether you are male or female. You get taken by your own thoughts. Any part of you not 100% will work through to your conscious thoughts at some point. Do NOT beat yourself up. As Abbie has done, walk through them, take comfort from each day you move on. Massive respect for Abbie, and anyone who does this. Stay safe.

Thank you soooo much for this. My partner and I walked the CtC in 2007. It was our first long distance walk. Such a joy to see all those views and places again. In the following years we went on to walk the West Highlands Way and the South Downs Way. Now for the really weird thing; two of the times when your demons bubbled to the surface were along the shore of Ennerdale Water and on your second last day. That path alone Ennerdale Water I found strange, almost creepy and I don't know why. To me the gnarled trees and moss covered rocks had a sinister feel to them. I also had a strange unsettling feeling walking into Hawsker on our last day. I think this was to do with it being our last day. For the previous 15 days the journey stretched out before us but tomorrow all this would be gone. These two negative experiences are minuscule compared with the delight, at times the almost heart stopping joy, of walking day after day though such beautiful landscape. Thank you again for this and for all your walking videos.

Hi Abbie, thank you for shearing this diary of your journey along the Coast to Coast trail with everyone, I personally did the same walk a few years back but did it in the other direction starting at Robin Hoods Bay. The first part across the North York Moors was the opposite to your time in the mist and rain, I had the blistering Sun, but when I started across the lower section the weather changed so as to be very wet with rain coming into my face at force as it was very windy and visibility 4 m so very hard to find the trail. So now I have seen all of the things that I missed seeing on my own trip. I got a lot better weather when I crossed the M6 and went through the Lakes, I also stayed at YHA Black Sail, a wonderful place, so tranquil. You are an inspiration to others, sharing your own emotions that your feelings on your day to day experience.

Once again thank you so much for sharing your journey, the hours of filming and days of editing are really appreciated.
