Camp skunk is Da Man with the plan. I have a 1998 Dodge Roadtrek popular ,318 engine 160 k when this engine and transmission die I will not hesitate to repower. I think with the ever-increasing cost of new E Treks you will see more and more and more of the 1990s and early 2000s Dodge and Chevrolet chassys being refurbished and updated

To be clear, I did not mean to change the focus of this 'forum'. Mike seems like a nice guy, I love his 'wheels' and appreciate the upload. I simply take serious issue with the invasive mindset that the 'government' pays for anything. Gratitude should at least be reserved for the taxpayers that always foot the bill.

Carmfully, Winnebago just came out with a class B and a B+ based on the Dodge Pro Line van which is the U.S. version of the Fiat Ducato as part of Dodge's partnership with Fiat. It has the 6 cyl 280 HP gas engine. The class B is the Winnebago Travado and the B+ is the Winnebago Trend. They're also around 20 to 30 thousand less than a sprinter based B or B+.

Some people apply for jobs so they can pay for fule. Because they didn't plan it out or they planned on living in the RV while working. Others apply because they want something to do part time. And some even work over the internet. People do what fits there interests best. But you can RV full time with a $500 monthly budget - you won't be traveling as much but you can do it.

There are a lot of variables to your statement but you are correct. American tax payers did pick up the 30%. But since the Federal Government represents the American Tax payers, the two terms become interchangeable. However I won't be arguing such an insignificant thought.

I wish the US had something like the Knaus Sky TI 650 MF (just youtube search for it). Same size (and half as cheap) but MUCH more habitable for full-timing. If they had also built it on a Sprinter chassis, I would take the European model over any Roadtrek any day! Just overall, the European designs seem to be able to fit so much more into the same space and do it all cheaper and with a lot better taste.

You can live on less than that. I know some one that lives on only $500 a month but you cant move long distances and have to search for free parking spots like national forest or walmarts parking lots. Full time RVing is not for everyone that is why people applies for jobs not everyone can live in 22 feet of space and be frugal.

Bronzebk I think at 24 hour fitness a class c would be a CONCERN by police especially after repeated visits in a standard space which they cannot fit in. Class B fits in all car spaces and does not DRAW an eye. I personally like class C and A if staying off the grid!

The American tax payer paid for 30% of your solar cost. If your only able to get 3-4 hours out of your batteries after sun set your doing it wrong. First It's much better to have all of your batteries near each other, and not running wire all over the RV. It cost less, weighs less, and is more efficient. Placing your battery bank as close to the charge controller as you can will also help for the same reasons. More wire= more loss= more cost= less efficiency. Sprinter Chassis is superior IMHO.
@fredwilson9113

Things can usually 'be worse'. Conversely, they can usually be a lot better. Over half my income goes toward taxes from Federal down to the local level. I would prefer MY tax money be returned to it's rightful owner...ME.
@ianrsigel

To 'give' denotes willingness. I am happy to pay my fair share to support the general welfare, i.e.:Military, Education, Infrastructure, etc. But when my hard earned income is forcibly TAKEN from me (threat of jail for failure to comply is a form of force via extortion) and given to someone else in this manner, all that has been done is reduce my purchase power to increase someone elses. The government owns nothing and pays for nothing. The Taxpayer pays for everything.

Totally foolish and unrealistic reply. Too old to run for office. The IRS or a similar organization is necessary to collect the required revenues to operate the country. All I can do is exercise my individual right to vote and hope that, together with other rational voters, we can effect democratic change. The other act is to exercise free speech in this manner to bring attention to this serious subject for the (far too many) who fail to recognize these abuses exist.
