Great video! I not only enjoyed the banter, but since my husband has a Giant Stance E and I have a Trek Fuel exe, it ticked all the boxes about our cycling reality. Anna confirmed everything I have noticed - the climbs, the cadence, and feeling the weight of the full power bike was too much! However, I know I’m on the right bike for me. Thanks Anna😊

Great video, guys, and it was fun to watch. I'm on a full power Transition Repeater 29er. The bike Weight is around 50 pounds, and I think I weigh around 160 pounds. It's a perfect fit for me, and I love it. I have no problem throwing it around. Speaking of throwing it around, it is now fully charged, and it's now time to hit the trails🤘🏿

I ride a Trek EXe under 20kg and has 50 NM motor. I weigh 95kg. When I ride with other riders who have full power ebike, I can't keep up with them nor my range is comparable. So riders weight is a huge factor for this test.

Relatively flat, switch backing, rooty, rocky with punchy climbs and short but steep descents. Proper old school MTB. I find it interesting how these old school trails are really where an EMTB can shine the brightest. Yet some cross country MTB bike vs a full power, long travel EMTB couldn't be further apart, as well as the riders who choose one or the other to ride. 2 completely different bikes and riders, yet same trail systems to participate in 2 completely different experiences.

Silver spokes and nipple are a nice change they look wicked Steve. I don't think I would ever purchase an SL. I personally just don't see the point of the SL. To me, SL category doesn't need to exist or can almost be obtained with the right part choice and outlay. I feel full powered Ebike are at a very acceptable weight now and weights are coming down. I feel, Ebikes with multiple battery capacity options and owning different battery capacity coupled with tuning apps, flip chips are the way to go. I wish more bike companies would sell Eframe only . SL ebike are a bit like light beer, same price less punch.

Tuning! That's what you aren't discussing here and makes that half fat bike so competitive EVERYWHERE! Keep your Eco the same to maximise range and cardio. Trail, pump up the power and torque a little, no more blowing at higher speeds. Then boost just crank it! Fill in that torque curve and you have a bike that can climb the steepest technicals climbs whilst still being light enough to manoeuvre. You can make your half fat feel more like the full cream variant, but you can't do it other way around, no masking that weight 😊

I have the Levo Alloy Comp and find that once you have had the feeling of full power you just can't go back. Lots of traction and control. After riding motor bikes it is a natural fit and the weight is nothing. Power is power.

I started with a full fat Levo then swapped to a mid power Orbea Rise, and now after 2 years of the Rise I find that I ride alot with the motor off, as the lowest settings in Eco many times is still too much power. I only use the power on climbs

Interesting video. Not sure how to read the results. That’s mostly because of me as an amateur not being familiar with some terminology and how some aspects relate to each other (the professional aspects). All I can conclude is that a full power bike may provide significantly more power. As for the video, I find the comparison a little flawed, in that we’re comparing a small 60kg female on a light e-bike with a big 95kg male on a full power bike. That just does not make for an objective comparison. From the video it appears the lady had much more stamina and seems more athletic, but the make has more strength in his legs. I also noticed the battery capacity is not that much different (650 vs 750), and the main difference send the torque the motor can provide (which does affect weight of the motor). I think the conclusion is clear enough though: the full power is a better choice allround, because the lady was always going full out and optimised her stamina strength and technique continuously, whereas the guy seemed to put in much less effort.
@jmo2752
7 ай бұрын
I'm not sure that was the point of video (ie. a simple comparison) - rather it was to show what kind of bike suits different size/weight/fitness riders, and how they can still ride together pretty equally? If you simply wanted to compare bikes, you'd need to use the same rider on the same route.
@baronvonrichthofen2021
7 ай бұрын
@@jmo2752 well, it dienstdoet that either really, as the conclusion was that she was going full out all the time, and he was not. She had to constantly ride at peak performance, and he did not, and when she got on the full fat, she no longer had to go full out and climbing was a lot easier. So if the intent is what you indicated, the full fat always wins, for all cases. In fairness, that’s a valid conclusion too though. :)
@jmo2752
7 ай бұрын
@@baronvonrichthofen2021 I agree - I'm not saying it was their intent to prove it, only the basis for the 'experiment', but like you say, ultimately a full-fat bike is likely to be the better option... The only proviso being that someone the size and weight of Anna felt a bit of a passenger on a heavier bike as she explained?
