I feel so bad for him. Dude literally made a machine that reduced the war and saved millions of lives and he gets forced to get therapy for being gay. That's what the world was like. Unbelievable.

I think its ironic... he did what he did to help stop Nazis and Nazi ideology, only to become a victim of a Nazi ideology in his own country. Would be hilarious if it wasn't so tragically messed up

I think it was about differences , people say everyone is different but don't want to accept the fact that our minds work different too . They say you should make a difference , say do something different but want us to think exactly like them and if we don't then we are idiots who can't think at all .

This is probably the deepest part of this film. This scene reaches out and grabs you. You're transported back to 1942-3 and you remember that this is deadly serious. People are dying by the thousands. There is simply no more important thing in the world going on than what THESE people are doing.

@@FleivaSleiva A couple years late, but Jessica is wrong. The policeman asks what Alan did during the war, and Alan responds with a nondescript answer. "I worked at a radio factory." The policeman picks up on it, and asks what Alan REALLY did during the war. This means that the officer knew that the answer meant more than what Alan divulged. Alan responded with "Are you paying attention?" because Alan COULDN'T answer the officer's question. Both Alan and the Policeman knew that his job during the war was classified. The radio factory answer was Alan's cover story. Turing knew that he could never divulge what he did, because he was under a Non-disclosure Agreement from the Royal Armed Forces. Telling the officer what he actually did would not only break the NDA, but open up Alan as a threat to National Security. The secrets he knew could be used against the Crown, even after the war was over. (This scene is post-war.) Disclosing classified information would have meant far more trouble for Alan than 2 years in prison or 2 years of Chemical Castration. It would have meant life imprisonment or execution. In modern terms, it would be like getting brought in for possession of marijuana and telling the police officer about a secret government project you worked on that nobody even knew about. Or telling the police about the schematics of the latest stealth aircraft, what materials it's made from, etc. State Secrets that enemy governments would kill for.

oh that's very easy I didn't even watch a video he'll know a machine can't think I machine all it can do is compute it's an algorithm there is no thought only people think don't be deceived AI does nothing it's an algorithm it's just an algorithm what makes us separate as human beings as we have the ability to of thought our words have meaning that's what it means to be human your words have meaning a robot mean nothing to a robot it's a machine no completely wrong AI is nothing more than a robot computer is just computing it's an algorithm they have no thought they don't their words have no meaning they are just a computer that's it...

That's all one run-on sentence. I can't understand what your trying to say. The first thing you said about not watching the video, before your comment stopped making sense, if you had watched the video you'd know he actually explains the opposite. But just this scene might not give the best context for their conversation without the rest of the movie. I'd highly recommend watching the movie as it's very good, especially if you like computers and/or movies based on true stories.

@@johnbear6145 Why are you bringing God into it? The conversation in the video has nothing to do with religion. And who said anything about conversing with AI? No a robot isn't a person, but that's not what they're discussing. They're discussing whether or not machines can think, not if they can be considered people.
