Russ will definitely be one of the top 5 defenders on the team lol

I value versatility in defense so if I have to put a defensive lineup out there for example to close out a quarter. I would put a lineup of Russ, CB, Watson, AG, and Nnaji. I also take into account of transition offense and defense so the ability to capitalize on turnovers from the opponent matters to me. The idea of this defensive lineup is also to give the starters some rest hence why I didn't include Jokic. But Jokic at the 5 would work as well as long as the opponent have a traditional big on the floor. If the team does not want to over work AG, putting in MPJ or Strawther is also fine. They're both not versatile defenders. In the case of MPJ, he lacks the lateral foot speeds to keep up with fast/athletic forwards let alone guards. And as for Strawther, he lacks the strength and so far the defensive discipline to keep up with the elite players in the league as well. However, what they have are their size and wingspan to crowd the passing lane and force turnovers/steals. Strawther is 6'7" with a 6'9" wingspan while MPJ is almost 6'11" with a 7'0" wingspan. So a lineup of Russ, CB, Watson, MPJ, and Nnaji is also pretty good. This is why for the bench unit, I would actually put out a more "defensive-oriented" lineup in Russ, Strawther, Watson, Nnaji, and Saric. Russ, Watson, and Nnaji form a great defensive trio. But you also have shooting in Strawther, Saric, and maybe Nnaji (if his shots can ever return to form). Last but not least, you also have playmaking and ball handling in Russ, Saric, and Strawther/ Watson (if they get the opportunity to develop more of their on ball skills). This bench lineup isn't perfect, but I think it'll be much better than last year's 2nd unit and at least be above average or in the positive net rating.

Let’s just get the season going, so we can find out if Booth is a hero, or a moron. Our resident oligarch must not have enough money to fully engage in a Jokic era. If the Jokic potential is wasted, then it will be proven that the purpose of the NBA is only to suck $$’s out of your pocket, and that it has very little to do with genuine competitive sports.🙃
