Home Depot sent us the Makita XRU12 18-volt String Trimmer for review as part of their #thdprospective program. #sponsored #homedepot
As a user of their 18V X2 string trimmer, we knew that 36-volts was definitely a winner, but how would a single battery XRU12 string trimmer do? For the typical suburban American lot of 1/4-acre, this will be a perfect string trimmer to manicure the yard. If you're letting it get overgrown and not keeping it maintained, then maybe you should step up to the Makita X2 string trimmer.
You can choose from 4 speeds, Low, Medium, High, and Auto (4K, 5K, and 6K rpm). The 'Auto' mode will stay at 4,000 RPM and switch to higher speeds when it senses a slowdown. ie. More torque is needed. The Makita XRU12 string trimmer will speed up, cut through the tougher area, then slow down when it needs to. This extends battery life and runtime.
You can get the Makita XRU12 from the Home Depot for just $199. This includes the string trimmer, the 4.0 Ah battery, and the charger.
