My issue with Caroline perspective is that she is basically describing sin or guilt by association. It's no different than saying a person who goes out to get one drink at a bar is celebrating drunkenness. Yes, you will encounter drunkenness but encountering and celebrating are not the same thing. To encounter other people celebrate sin and death on halloween doesn't mean I am. But also, don't do things that you are convicted not to do. On horror movies, not all horror is demonic, gore, or sexual films. I was very surprised to hear that of the four examples name Saw was the one most okay with. Films like that are the one where I'm most against.

I understand where everyone stands. I want to say that I side more with Paul. Yes, we are in this world, but not of this world. We do need to take precaution and be selective (not just Halloween) based on your conviction. I grew up dressing up for Halloween just for candy and making memories. I grew up watching some Tim Burton movies. However, when we're obsessive, it can lead to idolizing--and that's where we need to be extra careful.

As a Catholic, Halloween actually has significant Catholic roots. The name itself comes from All Hallow’s Eve - that is, the Vigil of All Saints’ Day, when Catholics remember those who have gone before us to enter our heavenly home. Immediately afterwards, on November 2, the Church commemorates all the faithful departed still detained in Purgatory, and prays in suffrage for them. The feast of Halloween is one of those feasts on the Catholic calendar that is celebrated on the eve of a great solemnity.
@Blurp3

Purgatory is not Biblical. Most scholars agree that Halloween originated around 2,000 years ago, when Celtic people in Europe celebrated the end of the harvest and the start of a new year in a festival called Samhain... A pagan religious celebration. At the end of summer, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.

Halloween comes from the traditional Christian feast “All Hallow’s Eve,” referring to the Solemnity of All Saints. You guys keep talking about trick or treating and scary movies, but that's not Halloween in the traditional sense. We're getting mad at the Americanized version of Halloween, instead we should be reclaiming our Christian heritage. This is why knowing church history is so important. What was once a Christian holiday has been stolen by modern society and we're so quick to just let them have it.

It was not originally a Christian holiday. It was originally the ancient Celtic festival Samhain, and it was meant to celebrate the fall harvest. Many cultures around the world have similar celebrations at the same time of year that acknowledge the shorter days and cooler temperatures and the end of the harvest season. Christianity created All Saint’s Day in response to Samhain which already existed. Rebranding pagan religions and celebrations was a common colonization tool in the effort to spread Christianity.

@@arielrodriguez968 All Saints Day was originally on May 13th (7th Century) until it moved to November 1st by Pope Gregory III in the 8th Century in honor of a new chapel at old St. Peter's basilica celebrating all saints in heaven. Keep in mind Celtic regions had already converted to Christianity centuries prior, and All Saints Day was initially only celebrated locally around Rome. Historians have even found Christians in Ireland celebrating ASD on April 20th. Halloween wasn't established until the 9th Century as All Hallows Eve, which was a feast day mass on October 31 up until Vatican II. Halloween has never had any link to paganism/Satanism/Samhain, this is modern neopagan anti-Catholic propaganda with roots going back to the reformation days; the first true accusations didn't even come until over a thousand years after ASD was instituted. It is a informal fallacy (false equivalence) to suggest that Hallowe'en is a "baptized" Samhain. There’s a lot in the Bible that we learn to help us understand the “line” we shouldn’t cross as believers. Unfortunatly, the western church has gotten to a place that waters down scripture in order to prevent “scaring” people away. This lead to the church arguing over insignificant things like this and down playing the enemy’s purpose in this world. We are not called to tell people what not to do, but show the amazing gift of salvation that God gave us. Moral of the story, I think, is to keep digging in the Word, because, in general, western Christian’s don’t understand what things in thier life opens doors for the enemy to take a foot hold in their lives.

It doesnt matter if decorations are "tame" or if its "fun if u dont take it to far" and just remember to wear the "right clothes", i am appaled christian churches are even taking part in this, why would we purposfully choose to celebarate a day DEDICATED to the ENEMY, it is inviting the devil into our lives and there is no need for it. i appreciate how morgan tried to bring the Bible into it but what she said disappointed me greatly, she said how the bible does not technically tell us that that specific day is bad, so who cares right? I am really trying not to be negative about this and am sorry if it comes of that way, personally i would study the Bible a little bit more, rather then telling my 158k subscribers that they can do whatever they want just as long as they minipulate it enough to be socially exceptible, it makes me very sad to be writing this seeing as i have been subcribed for over two years, please do not take this as a hate message i believe the right intentions where there this video truly just frightened me seeing as spiritual attacks are real and are commen when purposfully allowing the devil into our lives, i am only 15 and do not know everything and am not trying to make it sound like i do, but i pray that all the other youth that has viewed this video donot get the wrong message and we all are able to study a little bit more on the topic.

Well, if you are worried about celebrating Pagan holidays, then you need to stop celebrating most holidays. Don't hate on the Pagans, we didn't steal your holidays. I am sorry but I have to call BS on Caroline. I don't believe her best friend's brother is a Satanist. I don't think she would know a Satanist if she had one right in front of her face. Caroline, if you really believe it, I think he is messing with you. Not like anyone of you care, but I will try to educate you all on Halloween. Yes, Halloween does celebrate death. However in Paganism, we celebrate LIFE. Not just life but ALL of life. If you look at all of our holidays, you will see each one represents a different part of life. Halloween celebrates the death part of life. Think about it. Do you know any life that doesn't come with death? You can't have life without death. Even in life itself, you can't have new parts of your life without the old parts that no longer serve you and your goals die first. Actually it is Christians that have an un-natural obsession with gore. It is the Christians that make things like gory horror films. That is not how Pagans celebrate Halloween. Heck, I keep hearing Christians talking about being saved in the blood or being bathed in His Blood. I mean, think about it. That is pretty weird, creepy, and gory. We don't do things like that.

I think divorce is the most misunderstood. I assume you are referring to an amicable or no-fault divorce when you state that divorce is a sin. The problem is that we on the outside have no idea of how a person has been living behind closed doors, and we have no idea of the actual condition of a marriage. In my opinion, there probably are many people who claim that their divorce is amicable because they don’t want to stir up trouble and don’t want to be seen as “talking bad about their spouse.” Do you ever stop to think that maybe they keep their information private because it’s not everyone else’s business to know the full story? You claim that so many divorces are sin, yet you are judging from the outside. I beg of you to do some research about divorce as established in the Old Testament and about the causes of divorce (abuse & neglect, and not just physical but also emotional). God Himself established the concept of divorce in order to protect women. Additionally, the Old Testament clearly states that God divorced Israel due to her unfaithfulness (Jeremiah 3:8), yet we know that this is not a physical unfaithfulness but an emotional/spiritual unfaithfulness. Ask yourself, what constitutes emotional and spiritual unfaithfulness in marriage? When a spouse is abusive or neglectful, they are being unfaithful because they have broken the vow to protect, love, honor, and cherish. I think every Christian needs to educate themself on what emotional abuse and neglect actually are. Christians have a track record of caring more about the STATUS of a marriage than about the HEALTH of the individuals. I have heard way too many stories of women who were told that they were “talking bad” or “gossiping” about their husband when they try to come forward with a claim of abuse. They are told to just pray more, have hope, and go home to have more sex with their abuser. They are told that their submission will soften his heart and lead to reconciliation. This is not true! Why are women told this over and over again? Because Christian leaders have a dangerous misunderstanding about the concepts of abuse and neglect, which causes women to stay in harmful, destructive marriages for decades. Christian leaders need to wake up and get educated!! Domestic violence is one of the largest epidemics in our country, and ignorance is not an excuse! Pastors and leaders who are shepherding hundreds and thousands of people in their churches (and on KZitem) are in positions of power and authority, and they are REQUIRED to be knowledgeable and educated on this topic. If you think that you are knowledgeable enough to speak about divorce being a sin, then you should also be knowledgeable in the Biblical grounds for divorce, including non-physical forms of abuse. I would like to send you more information on this topic including statistics and harmful effects of domestic violence. I may send you an email soon.

I believe both gossip and judgement are the 2 most overlooks and “okay sins” in the church, and overall. I disagree about divorce. I believe there are other cases where divorce is okay other than sexual immorality. Divorce wouldn’t be a sin if a husband turns into a domestic violator and beats the crap out of their partner daily, and verbally abused them all the time. In order for them to get away from their husbands, they would have to completely cut ties in both physical and legal ways. The Lord wouldn’t want someone in that type of a marriage, and divorce would not be a sin in this case.

I actually understand where Jacob’s at. I don’t think it’s for everyone but I think if you go into watching asking the Lord if it’s ok for you & intending to use your discernment in order to navigate the film, then praying & seeking God’s wisdom afterwards it can work. A friend of mine who walks a very real, refined Christian life watches a lot of films & discussed this on a Spiritual Warfare Panel which you can find on the Evergreen LA podcast posted on September 6th. He has fascinating insight around this that I found really resonated with me, especially around music & being able to pray for the artists when you hear something they release. The same can be done with film in my opinion! Also Morgan, thank you for sharing! I believe Ezekiel 37 truly speaks of the life we have in Christ & against the lies of the enemy which make us feel dead. They found the scroll for Ezekiel 37 on Mt Masada because the zealots did not agree with unaliving yourself & this was the scripture they held onto during their last moments before getting captured by the Romans. They literally drew lots to figure out who would be the last one & would need to do that & they ended up saving their family & escaping because the Roman’s didn’t find them. That’s how much they did not believe in unaliving themselves. On the issue of sin: gluttony absolutely, but also tolerating Jezebel - lies, manipulation & sexual sin. It’s disgusting how many people are gaslit by that in the church. I agree w Carol & Paul - passivity is not grace & it’s not ok for us not to speak up & take accountability for ourselves & help others in their journey of accountability. I absolutely agree with the girls on friendship break ups & have heard v few people talk about it!! Thanks for discussing it!

It all belongs to God. If we’re truly Christians, then we have victory and AUTHORITY over the enemy. Also, stating that your opinion should be every believer’s opinion is the doorway to legalism. If you feel convicted or it’s a stumbling block for you, don’t participate. As far as trunk or treats go, why is an event meant to create a safe place for kids to trick or treat and reach those in our community who may never otherwise step foot in or near a church weird? It’s a great opportunity to reach the lost and those seeking Christ who may not know it yet.

Nah, I appreciate nuance in the pursuit of honesty, instead of black and whites. Caroline’s perspective on Halloween was not nuanced by any means. Kind of hard to take seriously. Trick or treating in a Mario costume is not “celebrating death”. 🤔 Very much agree with Paul. Do we need to legalistically take everything from Christian kids? Let’s focus on the clearly wrong things and teach our children why we should avoid them. Let’s also teach our children to be discerning, so they can view a grim reaper or some other costume and understand why we may not choose to use such costumes. Teach that they can be in a location where not everyone is embracing what’s right, but they choose to follow Christ anyway, and have fun with a clear conscience. That way any time they see someone holding a beer in their hand, they don’t feel like they need to run for the hills. They can engage with that person in a loving manner while sticking to their morals and not overindulging themself.

Thanks for talking about this! The question is , can you participate in Halloween and not be supporting the evil part of it? Is trunk or treat and sweet costumes part of the evil? Also, thinking Romans 14 as y’all are talking. Also when it comes to movies, think on things that are pure and lovely. Horror movies are not that 😂

I agree with Caroline on Halloween. It's a pagan Holiday and it's the devil's day. And we shouldn't celebrate it. As for Horror well that depends I personally cannot handle Horror in any capacity. I think the demonic Horror like Paranormal activity,Conjuring,the doll stuff Chucky and Anabel, It etc Christian's should stay away from because there are spirits behind those. The neutral stuff like the movie about a pack of wild dogs escaping from somewhere and ending up on people's farm and killing people etc or serial killers is a personal conviction. Halloween movies that are not scary, I would say maybe personal conviction but think our time is better spent praying on Halloween.

I completely agree with Caroline. Breaking up with a girlfriend is wayyyyy harder. With a girlfriend you go so much deeper. I have never had a boyfriend where I was as close as I am with a really close girlfriend. It is so much easier to be closer to girls than boys. I had a horrible heartbreak losing a friend I had had sense kindergarten. We had to break up due to her family leaving my church because they were caught promoting false doctrine. It was so devastating.

I agree with Carolyn...is black an white, I have 4 kids, we always try to go to the family farm during Halloween so we don't have to deal with our neighborhood celebration! Also every year our church and some other romanian churches from Chicago area, get the kids together and do a kid conference that weekend so they can distract the kids from Halloween...and it has nothing to do with Halloween like other American churches do! I am sorry I am not trying to shame anyone but I just don't understand christian that do friendly Halloween stuff sorry!

Pennywise or It is an extraterrestrial being originating in the void that holds our universe the “macroverse”. He came to planet earth in an asteroid millions of years ago. His mortal enemy is the Space Turtle who created our universe and possible others. This is not depicted in the It movies but it’s definitely in the novel and probably helps the argument of godlessness being a central theme in horror content.

We went from anti-Christmas, Easter, and Halloween to just being more conscious about how we celebrate and what we teach our kids. I naturally turned away from gore on my own without convictions from Christ- it happened when I simply realized it conveys messages to our subconscious! But, for Halloween and holidays that’s a personal issue- I think it says more about Christian’s who argue and point fingers over holidays than it does about those who celebrate them. We have to be aware of our hearts when casting out our ideas upon others.
@ButterflyElsy

Commenting to add: I absolutely think any and all horror/slasher/ dark movies are demonic rather they showcase demons or not. Those kinds of behaviors are demonic and I would honestly argue they’re more demonic than the ones that showcase demons and exorcisms by a priest because they separate the spiritual world from the physical threats- leading us to think it’s not “demonic”.

Caroline being convicted to come off of her meds showcases so greatly how convictions can vary for folks! Some Christian’s would say being on medications like that is witch craft or “pharmakea” (sorry for the spelling) straight from the fallen angels and given to man. Prior to her convictions on them she participated in it and probably very much on accident- had she thought of it as witch craft like many Christians do. We can see time and time again Jesus confronts those from organized religion with pointing their issues back at themselves as opposed to encouraging them to by hyper focused on others- like we often time can do in the Christian community. It seems as though there could be spectrums in the christian world and we’re all in different walks of life trying to reach the same goal! In various ways we have all been deceived- that’s what the devil be do’n!!! But, we’re called to love one another no matter where we see the other at compared to ourselves. You guys did a great job showing that Christian’s don’t all think or feel the same way but we can still very much LOVE GOD!! Let’s never forget to love each other through the mess the way HE has loved us!!

Completely contrary to what many would have one believe, Halloween is _not_ a holiday that has close ties to the ancient past, nor does it have some ‘pagan’ antecedent, nor is it a continuation of several ancient pre-Christian customs. The truth is, to say Halloween’s connections to ancient Samhain, or anything “ancient” for that matter, are, at best, extremely tenuous, would be grossly overstating the facts. A direct connection between Halloween and Samhain has never been proven. Least of all with any legitimate satisfactory evidence to back the claim. Halloween just does not have the “pagan precedent” so many people seem to desperately want it to. When we celebrate Halloween, we are definitely participating in a tradition with deep historical roots. But those roots are firmly situated in the medieval Christian past, not an ancient pagan one. All three holidays, Halloween, All Saint’s Day, and Samhain developed completely independent of each other. They do share a common date and perhaps a “feeling”, but that’s really about it. Indeed, so much of Halloween “feels” Pagan that attempts to connect those things to ancient Samhain simply “feels right”.

Caroline says that Halloween is not in the Bible. Well, this is true. However, rape and incest are in the Bible. Because rape and incest are in the Bible, does that make it acceptable? So, just because it is not in the Bible does not necessiarly make it a bad thing.

I like horror movies and i grew watching up them since I was little. I respect Christians that don’t like horror movies, but there are Christians that do take things a bit too far when it comes to horror movies on KZitem and social media in general which can lead to condemnation and legalism My favorite horror movie is Constantine with Keanu Reeves because it’s also my favorite superhero movie based on DC comics,and I also like the conjuring series. There are also great kids movies like casper movies and scooby doo and some Disney movies like the haunted mansion with Eddie murphy. If I had a recommendation for kids, I would recommend the ones I mentioned depending on the parent. If I may say that I don’t know deliverance ministries are against Halloween when excorism have been around longer than deliverance ministries and excorisms are depicted in horror movies and the Bible does talk about excorisms. I Also don’t get why some Christian’s are against casper the friendly ghost. There are great kids-horror movies that are great for kids especually little kids like scooby doo, casper series, etc. that are pg rated that are great for kids and that also includes goosebumps movies with jack black. It just depends on the parent

No worries! What I believe as a Catholic is that Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross provided us the opportunity for salvation we do our best throughout life and if we are truly sorry we have hope God will forgive us and we’ll go to heaven basically through are actions and deeds in life we decide if we go to heaven or not the ability for us to get into heaven and be forgiven is what I think he died for ❤

To be honest, I’m kind of concerned for Jacob, he doesn’t seem to be convicted about a lot of things that they’re talking about, obviously, the Lord wants us to avoid anything that’s glorifies death, the occult, he just seems to be making excuses for a lot of things, it really breaks my heart. How much Christians compromise these days. We are supposed to be set apart as believers, and be in the world, but not of the world, and that includes what we entertain ourselves with.
