To the people asking about Evolite: Yeah I don't use it because it would be really boring. I've talked about it in the past in Pokemon Black runs. It would just be WAY too easy.

4:49 Based on the math, not 250 power. 300. The STAB boost is factored into the damage multiplier for type advantage, not added separately.

I think that's one aspect that doesn't get touched on much. Even if somebody is going through a tough time, constant reassurance can really put pressure on someone to feel okay, which actually can make them feel less okay. I'm glad you feel like you can open that to us. I've always appreciated the clear honesty you put into the channel.
@MahDryBread

More than that even, it's just really annoying to get reminded non-stop. Obviously I'd never get upset with anyone for it since it's coming from a good place, but it's really annoying when you're doing fine and you have people constantly telling you that it will be okay. I know it's going to be okay, it's currently okay and I'm saying it's going to be okay. Of course I miss Fatima, but I'm also perfectly fine and living normally. @15:11 I might have an explanation. Moves like dragon tail (Drayden’s signature move) have a negative priority: they always go last. Otherwise they could force you to switch wasting your turn while doing damage. Haxorus using dragon tail forces it to go last every time, so Munchlax gets to outspeed it

It's always weird to me to hear that people don't listen to the ad-lib outros - I watch your challenges because I like your personality (through what I can see from the show, of course), the content is secondary to the person making it. So it's weird not to watch those, and it seems weird to expect content even to your detriment. Not getting a video next week is a bit unfortunate, but I'm happy it's so you can have spent some time with your wife at least! I work with my wife and I'm still happy to have her around me pretty much all the time at home, so I can imagine how weird and different it'd be to have her gone all of a sudden. No hard feeling from me, I'll be back in 2 weeks to watch your newest video the minute I'm home!

Commenting before watching: I am sad there is less of a chance to get a fossil on the way so we could comment and ask which one you took. Though of course this sadness was overcome by the presence of the Meowth thing. Also since I know you played it with your friends on the channel or on their channels, do you think you will do a gen 6 challenge sometime? Possible Pomeon for it include - Flabebe - teamup of Swirlix and Spritzee - Skiddo - Honedge - teamup of Skrelp and Clauncher - Teamup of Pumpkaboo and Phantump And in all of those you would have to take the Charmander from the battle with Prof. Sycamore so that you can name it "Weird Fish" EDIT: #MDBAMA - if you could re-experience any media (game, movie, music, tv show, etc) as though for the first time (as in, you get to watch/play/listen/etc. to it as if you never did), what would you choose?

Pretty sure some people have mentioned it in the comments but I'll mention it nevertheless. In Gen5, the most efficient way to grind levels is to run outside of the grass, wait for shaking grass and only fight Audinos, That will be faster than fighting all random Pokemon. Unless you want to EV train in a specific way, or else Audino Strats is the fastest to grind level.

You generally can’t tell much about IVs at low levels, especially without checking stats at multiple different low levels. If you really want to check IVs without cracking into the save data, you’ll want to create a save/state, then rare candy up to level 20, where you can narrow the range of each IV down to 5. Also keep in mind also that IVs matter more for low stats, so you’re probably looking for high defense and high speed in a solo run Munchlax. Also keep in mind that the final turn of a Defense Curl-boosted Rollout does more damage on its own than six turns of STAB Return. And the previous four turns of Rollout also deal about as much as six STAB Returns. Granted, there’s only about a 55% chance that Rollout hits on all five turns. Rollout is really good at solving problems against pure defensive walls or anything particularly tanky and dangerous mid-battle, where you can time your use to build Rollout against less threatening foes and force the actual threats to switch into the powerful turns 3, 4, and/or 5.

2:19 honestly when you’re low level you really can’t normally tell if an IV is good or not. Like with your current munchlax all of his IVs are in a range of 20 possible values, and when there’s only 31 possible values to begin with that doesn’t really narrow it down that much. Basically IVs will end up adding (IV*level)/100 to a stat, so at level 5 you are only adding 0-1.55 to a stat. The game also drops the decimal for whatever the final stat would be, so this normally only has a possible variation of 2 at level 5 for your stats. While occasionally you might end up getting a small interval normally it ends up being so varied that it’s hard to tell good vs bad. I would tend to just focus on natures, and only care about IVs if there’s a small interval for the possible IVs.

You should do Pokémon red but with only ponyta. Here’s my reasoning- ponyta only learn 3 fire type moves and 2 of them are terrible. The only good stab move it gets is fire blast which is only 85% accurate. Also the only move types it learns that have offensive power are normal and fire, this means it has no versatility. To add on all of this the first 2 gyms are good against fire. Ponyta does have some pretty good stats compared to what you are use to using so it could be an easier run than most but it would be nice to see

I think the reason the Watchog went for Leer over Retaliate is because when the AI doesn't see a potential kill, it will generally try to setup either until it does see a kill, or it can't setup anymore. It is likely that a Retaliate wouldn't have killed on a high roll, so it went for Leer because it sees that it could kill with a "140" power move the next turn, because the AI doesn't realize that it won't be 140 the next turn.

Was Haxorus using Dragon Tail? If so, that is why Munchlax was going first. Dragon Tail is a negative priority move.

Hi MDB, great videos as always! I have a few suggestions for Pokémon challenges: 1. Any Pokémon’s game but using animals only found in Canada 2. Any Pokémon game but you can only use moves that build power (rage, fury cutter, rollout, etc) 3. Shuckle only run again!

You know what? I’m curious. Could you beat Pokémon Sword or Shield using the moves Power Trip and Stored Power? These moves are ones that have fun gimmicks. They get stronger the more buffs you can provide to your Pokémon. If you use Calm Mind, that’s 1 buff every use to Special Attack and Defense. Each one buff provides Stored Power and Power Trip with a boost of power by 20. So, starting at 20, it goes to 40 and 60. Yes, you’d have to use moves to boost your stats, but attacking enemies only with those moves, do you think it’s possible?

Poor MDB, in shock about stacking multipliers. Just he wait until he does the maths on a gen 6 Talonflame, trained into speed using acrobatics with no held item. Acrobatics in gen 6, the more your Pokémon outspeeds the more damage it does. Talonflame has a high base speed, so it multiplies normally to 150 power, thats at base, it gets better, if the speed difference is great enough a max IV speed speced Talonflame acrobatics compared to say a Munchlax is 500 power priority move, now add STAB. Thats why acrobatics which is still good, was nerfed in gen 7 onwards. Oh and umm, you could use moves like agility to increase its power. Every gen has 1 move on 1 Pokémon thats absolutely broken.
