OK Chris...I tried the triple rig today on the Berkeley Flats with the rest of the fleet. Was me and my son. Bit chopppy in the 17 footer but got a couple keepers. My take...lots of GD tangles. I spent a lot of time untangling the rig. It's easy to tie and I made up several in advance so some of the more terrible tangles got swapped out for new rigs. I had way too much bait cause we hit J&P's so we were able to make sure all three anchovies were swimming at all times. Tangles were often operator error...one of the hooks got in a dock-line, etc but generally it was really difficult to pull up, move spots, and get back into the water without at least a minor tangle somewhere along the way. And once a fish hits a net with that rig you can count on a 10min battle getting everything sorted. Pretty sure this is why you do not see it used as often...I will use it moving forward only when fishing solo (I'm generally better that my kids at not getting things knotted up). Here is my rig suggestion to get three hooks out there fishing but avoid tangles. Instead of a boring old lead weight, use a large jig head and swimbait or a super short carolina-style weight plus live bait. Then either fish a single anchovy with a stinger or do a double rig with a single dropper loop. I like the idea of fishing the oversized swimbait along the bottom because it gives the fish a very different look that what they are going to see under every charter boat out there. Thanks for the videos! Great work!

You can try a shrimp fly or a smaller grub above the jig tube. Tie the dropper loop about 1’ from the top of a 3-4’ leader and add a hook to attach the grub or slide on a shrimp fly… remember elephants eat peanuts

Hey Chris, I watch a guy named John Skinner, he's east coast & Florida. He has some good videos of fluke fishing off long Island. I'm curious if his rigs would work west coast for halibut. It might be worth a try. Here's a link to a recent video of his. kzitem.info/news/bejne/zqiuyodpfYuZq3Y. I would love to see you give it a try.
