It’s great that Apple finally incorporated Reminders into Calendar app but still kept Reminders separate. Now they need to do the same thing for Notes app. For any contact, calendar or reminder that I have notes in the note field that note should also reside in the Notes app and whatever change is made to the Notes field it updates and sync with the note in the Notes app. This will remove the duplication of information because my contacts have a note and then when I create a reminder or event, I have to make a note also in those apps, and then the Notes app have a more detail note covering the same thing that the Calendar reminder and Contacts note fields may have. One note to rule them all. I’ll have to send this suggestion over to Apple as a feature request.

I love this idea but sadly I don't think it will ever happen from what I know from Apple UX mindset. Have you looked into this app called Agenda?
@Ded-Ede
2 ай бұрын
@@benscyberlife yes. I have tried that app and many others, they are not cutting cheese. Plus I love when I tap on a contact from the Siri search it shows almost EVERYTHING I have it have connected to that contact. Siri contact cards show birthdays, reminders, text communication, calendar events, emails, notes, pictures… I think it’s one of the BEST sleeper features that no one ever discusses. Siri contact cards info rocks.

I agree. I do like the Fantastical widget much better, but not sure it justifies paying $60/year. Fantastical does have some other nice features too, but again it comes down to whether they are worth paying so much annually.

Thank you for this! I have already made the switch to stop the financial drain! Can’t wait for the update! One tip, the app is pronounced ‘Fantastic-Cal’. Cal, like the start of ‘Cal’-endar. I wish that you would slow down a bit and tell us what to do as you were doing it. For instance. “to expand this calendar view, I am spreading two fingers in the middle of the screen.” Very helpful video!

I just got the iOS 18 public beta and am really liking these calendar improvements. I have used Fantastical for years, primarily because I wanted to see my Reminders in my calendar and because of its amazing natural language processing. While Apple Calendar did get some NLP improvements, it's still not as good as Fanastical's. However, its integration with Reminders and with iOS overall, and the fact that it's not costing me an additional almost $60/year means I am likely switching to Apple Calendar. I am giving it a try for the next few weeks and, if it works, will cancel my fantastical sub. I get why developers are moving to a subscription model, but for me, I just don't get $60/year worth out of Fantastical anymore.

I agree with the latest update it is very difficult for 3rd party calendars to justify a subscription.

Can the new Apple Calendar duplicate an event at a later date as easily as Fantastical does? Other than Calendar Sets, this is something I use ALL THE TIME. Use case: I'm at a doctor's appointment, and need to schedule a future visit. I simply select the current appointment and duplicate it at the future date and time. In iOS Cal, I can duplicate, but then I have to edit the event for the future time/date.

It is still fetch but an option is added 'automatically' which is adaptive but I'm unsure what is the minimum frequency.

Still not useful for business users because of no ability to add zoom or teams or Google meet calls. Exactly who uses FaceTime or Skype for team calls? Somebody over at Apple is deliberately holding calendar back.

That's true unfortunately. Apple apps are highly focused on individual consumers. Even the exchange integration I would say was on popular demand.

Yeah… but these are just the visual aspects. The natural language inputting on Fantastical makes it so much easier to use. Calendar is basically from the Stone Age in this sense.

Thanks for the comment. At some point in the video I've done a through comparison of the NLPs. What you refer as visual aspects are a really important element of the user experience (UX). Basically it's what attracts one to use something or deters. It is too important to be ignored.

I think we were all waiting for Apple to integrate Reminders into Calendars. I jump between Fantastical and TickTick and have settled on TickTick due to compatibility with iOS, Android, Mac & Windows. Currently testing iOS18 on my spare iPhone and iPad and waiting for a more stable version so I can install it on my main iPhone and switch from TickTick to Apple Calendar/Reminders. Thanks for the video.
