Last month (May) I shared a video showing how I set up my new pea trellis, and I mentioned that I already had garlic growing in that area of the raised bed. I thought this would be a good opportunity to test out the common companion planting advice that says garlic will stunt the growth of peas.
This (obviously) is not a scientific experiment, and I only grew snow peas with one variety of hardneck garlic.
Maybe shelling peas or snap peas would behave differently? Maybe softneck garlic affects peas in a different way than hardneck garlic does? I really don't know. I can only comment on what I'm seeing in my own backyard garden right now.
Have you tried growing peas and garlic together? Let me know if it worked for you or not in the comments below.
