That was great, I actually mistoke 2/3 pickups. The tele I preferred the sound of in the visible bits, but great mods. Super close. I’d bet if you played two identical telecasters they’d still sound different. Great vid mate, look forward to you doing one for that beautiful blue deusenberg behind you.

Yea no 2 guitars can sound the same :) it's easier if u have a reference point like a real telecaster so u can tweak the modelling to sound like it. The dues is gonna be challenging as there are no modelling of dues body in the Variax but I'll try!

The real Tele sounds better...but it's absolutely the right vibe. Btw, your guitar sounds painfully out of tune for the first few examples.

The sound is so close that with simple EQ adjustments on the amp both guitars can sound the same.

Don't forget the Line 6 T-Model is based on a 1960 Tele! (not what you are comparing it to)

Yeap, in fact 2 guitar of the same model might not even sound the same :) it's just the only tele I have for comparison and I must say the Variax did a good job on getting the Tele tone.

On the first (Tele Model Neck Pickup Clean) comparison, a closer match should be possible by slightly reducing middle strings volume in Workbench. Nice that the last (bridge) blind test got more quintessential Tele twang from the Variax than the American Special.

That's a good idea to reduce string volume. Happy that the Variax did well on this comparison. Cheers

I was able to tell right away the difference. I kind of cheated since I have a variax and a tele.

Good job on the mods. They are quite close and sound however I think the telecaster has it beat by at least 15% better sound .

thanks!! Variax does a good job at getting 75% close.

Good job. They are close enough to be interchangeable in any situation other than studio. I know, because I have played at least 100 gigs with a JTV69, all of them through an HD500 or Helix.

I'm contemplating on purchasing the JTV-69 HSS, my question is how's the reliability with the electronic components, from gig to gig concerning traveling loading etc.. as one gigs? prior to coved-19, I gigged almost every weekend, I could use all those options specially when different genres are covered with different types of guitars. anyways luv to here your input on the reliability of the electronics.

@@rockkstah2550 I did have a problem early on with my JTV-69, it was fixed under warranty. At that point, I had only done 2 or so gigs, and I always carry a spare guitar for backup. I picked up a JTV89 used at a pawnshop, and I usually bring both to gigs. Because I use Helix, I have one plugged into the VDI input, and the other in the guitar in.

This was really interesting and very well done. My experience with the A/B was that when the first guitar played, I couldn't tell for sure which it was. After I heard the second guitar in each set, I could tell which was which. But in third set I guessed right but it was pretty much a guess, I was only 60% sure but I really liked both a lot. Either way this definitely furthered my interest in picking up a Variax. I'm curious what your opinion is of the strat and LP standard models, are they as good as the Tele models? I've listened to other videos and in most of them the modeled strat sounds a bit muddy or maybe just too much low end. I think it maybe really depends on the rest of the gear, you made really good choices with your amp/cab settings and really brought out the sound of both instruments.

Thnaks for your feedback. The default strat models to me needs tweaking too :) LP not too bad imo. I did some audio comparison on my channel as well. Do check it out. Cheers

Yea it fits great.. I don't have the exact specs but its Jamerson brand with Modern C neck and medium jumbo frets (21 frets)..

I could tell the difference, but that doesn’t have a negative impact on my opinion. More concerned with the fact that your JTV has only 21 frets, whereas the Telecaster has 22. What was the deal with that? Is it the Strat neck?
@GuitarEmerge

Yes it's a strat neck on the Variax. Cheers!

Hi. I downloaded the zip file and when unzipping it there are three files: Tele Bridge, Tele Middle and Tele Neck, but when opening them in the HD Workbench and loading them in the variax is the same patch.
