All AMD cpus I’ve seen seen to run close to 90-91c which is too close to the thermal limits ! Where as intel can run upto 100c and with cooling run at 95c ! @2ndtonone1000
4 жыл бұрын
@@andressuarez3079 Not really you are talking about multi core performance not single performance. In the single-threaded Cinebench R15 test, the Core i9-10900K scores 222 points, while the 3950X scores 213, which is a 4.22% lead for the new Intel flagship over AMD's. The i9-9900K is 2.81% faster than the 3950X in the same test. An the 3950X has 16 cores and 32 threads, while the 10900X is a 10 core 20 thread CPU. So its like comparing a Bugatti to a little bit suped up Mustang. When they are on the same cores and threads Intel usually beats out AMD. People tend to forget that due to fanboyism . Lets not forget AMD was dominated for almost a decade by Intel, so this close to one year lead by AMD is nothing compared to what Intel did to AMD.

These new 120/144hz cheap display are very VERY bad. Previous 144hz had a much better quality. I think even the previous cheaper 120hz monitors from older laptops were better in colours than these new cheap screens, weren't they? Also, the build quality of this MSI was quite bad. MSI is getting a bad reputation with their bad build quality, even in the design and colour theme seems like they didn't put any effort to see today's trends. And I do agree with you with good plastic better than bad metal. My ROG Strix II is super sturdy despite the base being plastic, touch pad is sturdy too with independent buttons, screen quality much nicer. It's also a more expensive laptop though. But I think the Asus ROG Strix G and Zephyrus G (cheap models) have better built than this MSI, I mean, even the cheapest TUF has better quality. Thanks for the amazing and honest review!

I am working on a good way to add a video edit workflow into the benchmarks. Do keep in mind that the experience varies depending on what you do in each app, it's more CPU or GPU heavy depending on what you do. So one (or even three) tests might not even tell the whole story. For most core editting tasks, you can simply look at the CPU benchmarks already there, the scaling is very similar.

That fern on your Cooler Master Cosmos C700 tower is a bad idea if you are going to put water into it... ferns need water, and humidity just saying... MSI laptops have: Really nice cooling, but bad fan noise, pitch is too high like a wasp buff, very annoying and a deal breaker for me. 6 cores top, which is, as you said (and if I'm honest I'm glad you said it coz someone had to say it) mediocre for 2020 even with intel's architecture. (Still) room for HDD which are pretty much obsolete these days for people that doesnt need 20Tb storage, against ssd and nvme m.2 even at its worse pcie gen 3 even. Low RAM memory at its max set up for editing, compiling, etc, so performace average Mid range RTX 2060 with 6Gb dedicated ddr5 which doesn't impress me considering the 11 / 16 / 24 Gb Nviada RTX Max-Q & Quadro ones. So all in all, apart from all that trendy design (that I hate, sorry :/) for kids with lots of edges and lights they give you pretty much a crappy computer. And the alternative is spend 4 grand which would annoy me if I liked any of the 60 designs I've checked. But they review was quite accurate. :) Good video.
@SphexGamingInc
4 жыл бұрын
So what Laptop would you recommend if a pleasant fan noise is an extremely important trait for you? Lets say up to 1200€ (better about 1k). I just recently bought a Legion Y540 but the high pitched fan noise in idle/video steaming use is driving me nuts, when the fans are on full blast it gets a little bit better tho. It's not all about the "loudness" (like in decibels) which is my problem but the type of that sound.
@andressuarez3079
4 жыл бұрын
@@SphexGamingInc It's true, the high pitch of the fan noise is the probem. Other laptops have also high speed but the fan pitch is lower. What laptop? Depends on your needs. For gaming I would say most fan noises are annoying but still some are better than others (lower pitch) For work check HP new Omen 15, its very decent, and also Dell's XPS series seem nice but still you will have to listen to the fan pitch for yourself coz I don't how irritable you get with fan noises (I do too). Other option is to ask an IT guy if you can modify your actual computer fan speed by modifying it through the BIOS settings (or maybe u know how to do it yourself). That is what I would do in the first place so as not to have to buy another laptop. Best of luck. Regards.

I love your review, but at the end you basically recommended the asus over this one but I had heard that the asus had some thermal issues overheating.

this one gets really hot as well. cpu temps are just ridiculous. i picked this pc up today and the temps are worrying me especially on AAA titles. i’m not sure if gaming with these kind of temps very long is a good idea or not

@@sippin1375 You need to undervolt the cpu, change the thermal paste and get a cooling pad in order to get good temps on this laptop. Keeping it on really high temps all the time is really bad

LoL The heat sink pipe is similar design to MSI Bravo. The cover has no direct hole to air intake. that's why gf65 and bravo has same sucks thermal performance. Even the heatsink pipe is really well design

If this laptop didnt have the gamery looks I would consider buying it, especially if they put an AMD CPU in it.

RTX 2060 on the Asus tuf a15 is a meme lol, same performance as this laptop with a better CPU and GPU. I don't know where they fucked up.

how does this laptop hold up by today's standards for gaming at the $899 retail price? Is there a better option with a budget around 700-800?

It all depends on your alternatives really. It sounds OK to me, this will still play all/most games really well.

@@TechTesters from what I've seen you can't really find anything, even used for less than 800-899. Best I can find is a 1660ti with a 10th gen Intel. I only need the laptop to use with external monitor, kb, mouse. Coming from a GTX 1070 and rx580 8gb anything would be an upgrade as I have to be on mobile platform now due to power demand. Can you suggest anything else that might fit my needs?

If you could please make a normalised benchmark for the energy efficiency of a Ryzen 4800h and a Core i7 9750H would be grateful. This is the most important thing we ought to know yet no one thinks of doing it. Just compare 2 similar spec devices having only the CPU as variable. More or less to have an idea of the efficiency. So far it looks like performance wise the Intel offers are not so far behind. Taking into consideration that not a single AMD ryzen 4800h laptop is actually worth buying from the point of view that except for the CPU it is all shit: too small, no RTX and really shit cheap devices..and all the Intel offers are shit as a matter of fact except for the built quality of the laptops. So we are stuck between built quality and a CPU. So far both of them cannot be bought in one device. This is really dissapoiting. So their energy consumption in comparison for the performance is the real question. I could not find a SINGLE reviewer who considered to make that test.

Jarrod's tech has a comparison between i7-10850h vs R9-4800hs where he shows the power used by both cpus during the test. Maybe is the information you are looking for.
