You're saying you prefer a single wedge over a 4-way?

May cost a bit, but you could take the existing splitter wedge off and take both parts to a welder. I am sure they could modify four way. Or weld on an attachment point to the four way and fit to machine.

Travis, Our old 22 ton splitter we have had for over 20 years & it looks similar to your champion. Its on it second engine. We have split hundreds upon hundreds of ricks of wood. Ive never added grease to the bed and it doesnt have any crazy wear. I have noticed alot of new splitters recommend putting some grease down everyday.

This is good to know, thank you for the feedback. I didn't see anything in the owner's manual so I may just leave it as is.

I also watch other channels on firewood as I find it interesting how we all have different ways tools ECT to get to the same result. My champion splitter I have never added grease or oil to the beam.

@DanielAtkinsFirewood crazy how most new or "Comercial" splitters require you to oil the beam. Like you said my old one has never had any oil/grease on the beam. Keep it between the ditches

Travis, There is several wood cutting / firewood channels out there that I watch. I just enjoy seeing other peoples processes. I even do a little bit of wood cutting on my channel. It's more seasonal for me. Well for now lol. Thanks for the video. Keep it up

It's called horizontally instead of vertically. It's vertically is straight up and down. And horizontally is side to side.

Splitters get expensive fast! I bought the champion 27 ton and I like it. I would love to be able to cycle in 4 seconds. To do 4 second cycle costs about $20k and only go higher.

It is crazy that just a few seconds faster means the price of the machine goes way up, agreed. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!

If you move it forward to the point that it slides down over your wedge then run a few pieces thru it it will bend to fit 27 tons says the metal will bend

When I upgraded my Champion i got a 4 & 6 way wedges and a log lift. I will be going after the wicked 12way wedge later this year. Oh yeah did i mention i can tow it up to 80mph since no one here is Seattle drives at 45mph 🤣👍

Man i sometimes put bar oil on my splitter track, but there is a grease zerk on mine. So if im out of grease, a cap ful of bar oil every once and a while works also

@travisdoesfirewood i had an old 1990s splitter with a pull start diesel engine, and man that track would scratch and gouge and hop a little bit because it was so old, so i would dump a cap of bar oil on there once per hour. My new splitter tho, i just do it at the start of the work day

It should still work on that 🪵 log splitter Travis does fire wood. As long as the single wedge is the same diameter as the county line 🪵 log splitter. I'd Google that online to find out.
