Temp control is why the old adobe homes had 3 or 4 foot thick walls. Also, you can bend a piece if sheet metal to make a hood for outside of the window to keep the rain out. You cam bend the inside edges to slid into the window sill to grip in to hold it in place. And you can probably attach another small panel on it to make more electricity too.

How about a seasonal "hat" for the house that goes on for the summer shielding and insulating it from the hottest angles of the sun? There must be some way to integrate something that could do that. And prevent it from getting so hot in the first place. If something simple enough was figured out it could be put on just during the night in winter as well to keep it warmer.

Another suggestion would be a geothermal system, which generally requires a 4 to 6 ft trench and buried tubing through the trench. The tubing has to run at least 100 + feet to get the coolness of a cave, one end would go up into the small dome with a screen over it and the other end would have to be exposed to air with a screen to keep critters out, but allow air to flow thru the tubing. You would need a black vent at the top of the dome. As the air heats up inside the dome, it will escape out that vent, and start pulling the cooler air from the tubing into the dome. Vice president Gore uses a system similar to this, but he uses a black chimney for the hot air to escape his large home.

Personally I would just put in three poles and put a removable triangular shade sail up. As soon as you get the sun off that thermal mass you’re going to be dropping that temp 10 degrees at least, you can take it down in winter. Living in the subtropical sun for years has taught me to shade shade and more shade in summer. Hence why you put up the shade sails on the airport

This is really suprising! So many of the domes I've built have survived better than this one currently is. BUT!!! I did think: the dome is still very much releasing a lot of it's moisture, from the bags and the plaster. I've alwasy found them to be much more humid and uncomforatble as they are releasing this moisture. I feel the dome will perform differently and hopefully a little better after it's first year of completly drying out. As you've installed a membrane paint, the only way for 100% of the moisture in the walls to go is through the internal natural plaster. Hopefully it does improve and shows off the radical power of thermal mass. But yeah, its tiny and like a million degrees outside. And a darkish paint! Great video, as always you legends 😍

I didn't use the Wave that long due to downsizing to camping out of the Prius. I'm still on the Wave FB forums. Most people that vehicle camp order the insulated covers for the tubing (Amazon) and use only 1 of the hoses. Instead of sucking hot air from outside, then cooling it, you're only sucking in cooler air and then cooling it more. @@TinyShinyHome Logically you need both hoses, one hose to route outside air to the condenser and the other hose to expel the heated air outside. The evaporator will be in a sealed compartment with only the room air circulating through it. Lowering the temperature of the air in the inlet hose going to the condenser by insulating, shading or burying in the ground will increase the cooling efficiency.

But if I am interested in a product like this one today, I do watch. Eco Flo designs so many wonder interchangeable products to fit the user's situation. Obviously, you had to work on the power issue for the small dome. Next time, you would probably build in a vent while constructing it thinking ahead to needing it because of the small window size. I recently looked at an apartment for rent that had a through the wall round vent area with a door so that something like an Eco Flo would work well even though there was a mini-split installed in the unit. People are searching for solutions to accommodate heat/cooling and power. Eco Flo couldn't have sponsored a better channel for this review.

Just a FYI... You can trench anywhere if you use a airspade or pressure washer. And if you build another building in the future, try making one that is two external walls with a air gap between the two. This will give you the most efficient type of insulation without actual insulation. The outer wall doesn't even have to be thick either... just something to block the direct impact of the sun.

Perhaps, white washing or painting the dome white will help eleviate the sun's radiation effects. Also poles erected and arrayed to support a reflective tarp to create shade would help too.

In such a small room, something else takes up space on the floor. Air conditioner depends on power. 1 power is correct. Takes more, but manages to cool in half the time and the compressor is usually off.

Don't forget to put screen over the air inlet and outlet holes.

How about a a hardtop canopy bed with the unti mounted above and vented to spill cool air over the bed ( on top of the canopy), with quilted curtains to contain the cool around the bed before it spills out to the larger room? Might be cozy and also free up the floor space occupied by the unit.
