So thankful for your channel and for Gary. Former baptist pastor but came home in 2019. Gary’s books on the deuterocanon were so key in helping me sift through authority, unity and history. Great job Mr. Beaumont!

I don't speak Spanish but I think some apologetic books should be translated into Spanish. My friend who does speak Spanish said a priest told him that if you can't read English (American) then you really don't know apologetics. Spanish speaking priests really don't have much. It would be an investment but a good one.

Why is the Blood separate from the Body? Does it have to do with Old Testament animal sacrifice?

@@DouglasBeaumont .......... Well, during the sacrifice of the Mass, there is the cup filled with wine/Blood and there is the Host which is the Body of Christ. Why is it separate? I mean, right now, my body just appears to be a body. I don't see any blood there, unless I cut myself. Don't worry if you can't answer. I have asked many priests and nobody seems to know.

Oh, OK. I'm surprised no priests could not answer this. Just off the top of my head I'd say the elements are separate because, first, this is how Jesus presented them at the Last Supper. Second, the manner of reception would be odd if they were combined (a soaked host I suppose). Third, it makes no difference theologically because the elements EACH become the body and blood by concomitance (flesh and blood are united in a living body). This is why reception under either form gets the receiver the complete sacrament.

I’d add that one of the deeper reason. for having the Body and the Blood is due to the fact that Jesus wanted his mass to be a unbloody sacrifice (in the sense of violence.) What does a normal sacrifice do? By killing the lamb and pouring out its blood, it separates the body and the blood. Jesus was sacrificed in that bloody fashion on Calvary, but when we re-present Calvary in the Eucharist God didn’t want us re-crucifying Jesus, so he has us separate the Body and Blood in a nonviolent manner. TLDR: the Eucharist has the Body and the Blood to signify that Jesus is sacrificed (by having body and blood separate), but it is achieved in a non-violent manner.

@@DouglasBeaumont Well, I;m not saying Jesus didn't exist. There is just no PROOF of his existence. He exists in the belief of His followers. And that's okay, too. It's the idea that counts.

Yes, I was responding to what you actually said because that IS the idea I called silly. It's just false historically that there is no proof that Jesus existed.

@@butterflybeatles, you said, " There is just no PROOF of His existence; Jesus exists only in the belief of his believers." So you do not even know what the Roman historian Tacitus (he wasn't even a Christian) wrote and mentioned about Jesus in his writings?

Two very wise and learned men, who have gathered their knowledge from other men, reminds me of a quote from Jesus: I thank you father for you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. If you learn from man you will glorify man, If you learn from God you will glorify God. Even Peter said in Acts: We must listen to God rather then men. I say, God is waiting for YOU to call to HIM! After all, is not Christ your shepherd or will you follow a man who claims he is the shepherd of god?
