Diet is a massive problem and most of us don't have a personal nutrition trainer. We have different rates of using/ burning what we eat and in my experience after my wife died I ate loads of 'convenience' foods. Ready meals, takeaways and snacks from garages as a self employed mobile technician. After about 3 months I was lifting the trolley jack out of my van and thought 'This feels heavy' about the same time i looked in the mirror and saw more belly than usual. Not being altogether useless I realised that I had to make the time to eat what I knew to be good for me and tasty. I'm lucky, could already cook a bit and was brought up in the 60s/70s when fish and chips a butty van or sandwich shop were the only takeaways and at home the food was freshly cooked even if there wasn't much of it at times. As I stated, I'm lucky, but medication is apparently cheaper than education. 1st world country?

This is a great idea... Let's give people with existing metabolic disease (obesity) a drug which stimulates the secretion of insulin so that their insulin resistance which is the precursor for a host of troubles from cardiovascular disease to Alzheimer's can be further elevated. Then they can go on eating the same highly processed, health-destroying garbage that gave them the problem in the first place without the tedious need for any change in behaviour or physical exertion whatsoever. They will of course have to go on taking this drug forever without knowing what the hell the long-term side effects are going to be. What could possibly go wrong?
