Frog tape is my go to when I want something as clean as possible, but I love the effects of the paint seeping through the other tape. Nice tree effect!

Try burnishing along the edge of the tape with end of brush tip. Also I use RUBBER CEMENT FOR MASKING AREAS. It peaks off clean. Just FYI.

I really like this suggestion and hope you will try rubber cement on camera. You could use it through a stencil, make thick/thin, curved/straight lines.

I would say that it would probably look better in a deep blue than black as there is so much black around the masking tape line.

MMG! If you want less bleed on the frog tape (super smooth surfaces are best, but you can very slightly dampen the edges of it BEFORE you begin your project and let it air dry. That will activate the coating and begin the gel process creating more of a barrier... I dont even need to watch any of this to know the Frog tape is gonna give you the cleanest lines. The tape is coated with a hydrophobic material that actually turns any h2o based liquid into a gel so it doesn't have the opportunity to seep under the tape. Its amazing for actual interior painting, but I would recommend you remove it from your walls or trim as soon your second coat is finished because if the gelled paint has a chance to begin its cure process with the rest of the paint on your wall, etc you can actually peel a big section of it off when you remove the tape itself. You can also avoid this if you need to leave the tape in place for several days by gently running a razor knife along the taped area edge/corners before you remove it. Guess where I work, btw? Here's a hint: it rhymes with blerwin milliams.

You could watch a few videos of tape used with pours and ask the artist questions, but I personally think experimentation to find out what is right for you is a better idea.

It does help if the canvas is sanded and gessoed a couple times first. Prepainting the canvas helps, too. Love the pour - talk about an interesting center - and the black fill-in idea.

Amazing! Just look at all you right lines. I can't ever get my lines to be even half that close. I have tried all I can think of but nothing seems to help me. Wow none of them really worked like they say they will. Have you ever tried washi tape? I wonder if something in the flotrol weakens the sticky in the tape. Very interesting thank you for sharing this.
