Part of Knox's first argument is that Paul was NOT referring to homosexual relationships such as his. Dr. Brown refutes this, based primarily on the Greek translations, also citing numerous scholars (even from the LBGT community) who agree. Knox then counters that the church is "wisest when it doesn't make an idol of the Bible," and that we mustn't consider the Bible the "only standard by which we judge things." So....when Knox's first point doesn't stick, he contends that personal, direct experience (with what he considers God's Holy Spirit) is ultimately more trustworthy, even when such contradicts the Bible's words on this subject. Knox is a likeable man, but has he forgotten that the heart is deceitful above all? This is why we mustn't let our hearts decide issues when these would choose to override scripture. Sola scriptura! -- because without that, everyone's heart will be their own standard. God has given us the plumbline against which all is measured. It is His Word.

And to clarify the Bible say's that "Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God and such were some of you! Romans 1:26-27 which says: "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." How can one read this and conclude that sexual acts involving same sexed individuals could be anything but "shameful lusts" "unnatural relations" "indecent acts" "received...due penalty for their perversion"....... Did you hear that?...." due penalty for their perversion"......Perversion of what? "natural relations". This passage is plain and clear God called homosexual acts "shameful lusts"" "unnatural perversion" and will have a "penalty". End of story. Don't get me wrong.....God gave man free will. And here in America one is free to love whom he/she pleases. If one want to satisfy their lust for each other in ways that God did not intend, then by all means let them go for it. Just do not say that God's word justifies their actions. If one sticks up their middle finger at God in rebellion and say " I don't give a sh__t what you want. I am going to do it my way." Instead of confessing that they are a sinner and are trying their best not to sin, then they will get exactly what they wanted......the rest of eternity without God. This goes just as well for every other sin under the sun not just homosexuality.

Second debate I have heard with Harry and in both cases he has not put himself under the authority of the scriptures . He has clearly denied the Bible, he has therefore denied God and is not in Christ. Another thing apart from him being homosexual is that he is sexually active with his partner, he is sexually immoral and in fornication. He also deflects the subject where it is clear to another subject that's irrelevant. Those topics can be discussed but right here the topic is on homosexuality so deflecting it to justifying it by another wrong is spiritually and biblical immature. Harry is not a Christian based on his attitude and rejection of God and his word.

Harry used this to appeal to the world and their fleshly desires, thinking cloaking it with none biblical understanding. they know they don't read the bible, I wouldn't be surprised if their book only had those passage of scripture they used to deceive one another. all he wanted was the world to except them, not God.

Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. this doesn't only go for the Gay (homosexual), but also the strait not turning to such abominations as well, so no, you cannot be in the practise of any sin and be Christian, but if you turn from it, you will after repentance and accepting of Jesus Christ be forgiven and saved.

@@m.e.1367 yes it was one of the questions to Michael brown "how can you condemn homosexuality as an abomination when the book of Ezekiel also calls usury an abomination, why don't you condemn that as fervently" Michael's response was I think correct along the lines of I do condemn exploitation of the poor but even if the church needs to do on that it doesn't make homosexuality ok... Knox seemed to argue that Michael was disingenuous, that usury is worse that Christians who oppose same sex marriage are either homophobic or politically motivated Even if all that was true with a diversion from the thesis of the debate as it does nothing to demonstrate homosexuality is compatible with biblical and historic Christianity...

*Harry Knox* speaks from emotion, experience and Community responsibility and he's right. The business of "people" is all of our responsibilities and how we should love and value one another's opinions, experiences, and personal walk with what they know to be God in their lives. *Michael Brown* speaks from the holy scriptures and it's pretty much "black and white" he has also convinced me with his message of love for the plight of GLBT as I believe he is also sincere. "This is a hard teaching, who can accept it" said one of the apostles when walking with Jesus. I gotta tell ya, feel like that guy did! lol! But ultimately if your going by God, we have to go to the bible which I have always trusted and practiced as a source for living everyday life on this earth. I continue to pray for family and friends who are gay and treat them with nothing but love and respect, but the bible absolutely has to be the standard for any and everyone who claims to be in Him...

What I am getting from this is that Brown's basis for his viewpoints is the Word of God that 1 Timothy said is God-breathed, and Knox's basis is the way that he feels in his heart. Which am I supposed to put my faith in? The sinful heart of an imperfect man (not because he's gay, but because we're ALL born into sin) or the perfect Word of a perfect God? Seems like an easy decision to me.

+Oscar Radikoro According to the Bible, marriage is ordained by God to be between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:21-24; Matthew 19:4-6). Gay marriage/same-sex marriage is a perversion of the institution of marriage and an offense to the God who created marriage. As Christians, we are not to condone or ignore sin. Rather, we are to share the love of God and the forgiveness of sins that is available to all, including homosexuals, through Jesus Christ. We are to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and contend for truth with “gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). As Christians, when we make a stand for truth and the result is personal attacks, insults, and persecution, we should remember the words of Jesus: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you” (John 15:18-19).

As a christian, are you going to follow the Cambridge dictionary or the teachings of Christ in the gospels? When it comes to family, he taught something radically different from the definition of family you took from the dictionary and posted here. And since you claim to be his, you should know where it is in the gospels he said it without a "homosexual" like me giving you the reference like I easily could.

Perhaps the most shocking and frightening statistic is that, leaving aside those who die from AIDS, the life expectancy for a homosexual male is about 45 years of age. That compares to a life expectancy of around 70 for men in general. If you include those who die of AIDS, which now infects 30% of homosexual men, the life expectancy drops to 39 years of age. Yes as soon an any of us puts our experience over the Scriptures we are walking blindly. This is the major tenet of many people who are trying to convince the Church that what it has communicated to us is not what it’s communicating to us and the only basis of this is either a reframing of the interpretations or by elevating experience and “love” or “community” over the Word. The mistake is not in using experience but it’s in elevating over the Word in a way that gives our experience more authority than God’s word. No scholarly debate here, no science at all those things follow what the Bible says exactly but rather an appeal to accept, approve, tolerate, affirm because it feels good or will not hurt someone. Living by what we want to be true and using that as a paradigm then wrapping Scripture around it and calling it Christian is backwards and in error always.

No human being is born homosexual by God and a truly new-born Christian will be taken out of homosexuality by God the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, a new-born Christian receives a new spirit and the former self dies and a new self in God is born. This should answer the question. So, no, you cannot really be a "proud gay" and Christian.

natasha day Sodomy is an abomination (Leviticus 18:22) and you are not gay through God but through sin. What you want to do is to approach the Lord God Jesus in prayer just as you are. Do not fear consequences or punishment but walk up to the Lord God Jesus in prayer with your sins and be honest and sincere in your prayer. Do not be scared of God Jesus and do not feel unworthy. You are very worthy and beloved. I was atheist and approached God in the very same manner as described above, all alone and by myself in prayer and the risen Lord God Jesus Himself not only answered my prayers but blessed me even more. God is truly loving and understanding. Truly, my sins were far greater than you could imagine, and the Lord God Jesus just washed them all away with his own blood. Wonderful! You can be forgiven today and be made new and born again. Do not be afraid and approach the Lord God Jesus with all your thoughts and desires in prayer and be sincere and honest and He will answer your prayers immediately. God bless you and I hope that you make wise choices concerning your life.

I don't think either answered the question, if "Can you be Gay & Christian?" was the topic. I do believe that Dr. Michael Brown brought his points across more powerfully if the basis or standard is biblical view on homosexuality. The basis for being a Christian however is to be Born Again through faith in Jesus Christ and THAT is open to all. Discipleship though is a different story and fully yielding one's self to the Holy Spirit. Speaking from personal experience, a lifestyle of homosexuality works against one's testimony as a Christian in most cases because you will hardly have "born-again" friends who are gay and your unsaved friends will be difficult to relate to in that way. It is one or the other. Jeopardizing one's eternal rewards too (not eternal salvation) is another problem.

Can you become a Christian and be a active Homosexual? No! Does God accept anyone who tries to demand or bargain with Him to allow for them to continue their sins of choice? NO! Christians will sin, But they will not be a temple for the Holy Spirit if they mock God. They will be turned over to a hardness of heart and a reprobate mind. Repentance cannot come from an unrepentant spirit.

In addendum, of course Harry seems angry and attacking of Dr. Brown. And that's because, deep down inside, he knows he's wrong, according to Bible Scripture. He continues to talk about discrimination. But the issue IS Bible Truth and Scripture, concerning homosexuality. Again, we cannot just twist the scriptures to fit who we are, or homosexuality, as a life choice. No one should judge or condemn ANYONE, BUT, we must believe in, embrace, and hold true to the original King James Bible, which is God's Holy word. We must NOT allow Satan to deceive us, simply because it fits what and who we believe ourselves to be. Repent, as God rejoices in repentant hearts. True change IS possible, through prayer and repentance. Jesus is coming! Please, repent, and give your heart, mind and life to Jesus Christ, and turn ONLY to Him for Salvation. ✝️

How sad that Harry Knox is so proud of deceiving himself and including the Holy Spirit as a party to his deceptive thinking. The loving, grace-filled intro by Michael Brown was intelligent, thoughtful, logical, truthful, and revealing of the intentions of God and His creation. We all fall short of the glory of God, but as the Bible states in John 14: 15-16 “If you love me, obey me; and I will ask the Father and he will give you another Comforter, and he will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, for it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you do, for he lives with you now and some day shall be in you. 18 No, I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans in the storm-I will come to you. 19 In just a little while I will be gone from the world, but I will still be present with you. For I will live again-and you will too. 20 When I come back to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 The one who obeys me is the one who loves me; and because he loves me, my Father will love him; and I will too, and I will reveal myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Judas Iscariot, but his other disciple with that name) said to him, “Sir, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us disciples and not to the world at large?” 23 Jesus replied, “Because I will only reveal myself to those who love me and obey me. The Father will love them too, and we will come to them and live with them. 24 Anyone who doesn’t obey me doesn’t love me. And remember, I am not making up this answer to your question! It is the answer given by the Father who sent me. 25 “I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. 26 But when the Father sends the Comforter[a] instead of me-and by the Comforter I mean the Holy Spirit-he will teach you much, as well as remind you of everything I myself have told you.
