In this video I put a Vevor 30kg Anvil through its paces.
I've always bought second-hand (sometimes third, fourth, or fifth hand) anvils as I've alway been dubious about the quality of the brand new ones you see advertised all over the place.
I think I was scarred from when, at college, I happened to be there when they received brand new ones that we were lucky enough to use first and was disappointed to find they marked really easily and felt a bit cheap.
So what are they like these days? Is it worth spending a set amount of money on something new, as opposed to scouring second hand markets in the hope of finding a bargain, only to travel all the way to collect it and find it's edges are worn, the top's not flat and there are just too many chips, dents and bruises?
Well I've got myself a real entry-level anvil to test. It's the Vevor Pro Horn Anvil 30kg available here: uk.vevor.com/c...
Find out what I really think of it, and just how well it holds up when I test it as if I was a begginer, just starting out on my blacksmithing journey.
