More stuff like that man I absolutely love the way you break stuff down, I was able to make a bunch of my own and they turned out fantastic, however now I am working on a v.7 keycap. I think you get it haha

Thanks man! I have this really nice teacher in my school and he said that if I gave him a design he would print it out for me on the school 3d printer :)) quick question though, is this a sort of neutral keycap that i can use on all keys (except of course space, enter, etc) or is it just for the esc key?
@CASSDesigns
3 жыл бұрын
No problem, that's awesome! It is a generally neutral keycap as long as it fits on the MX cherry switch. Some key cap types have different sizes for the different rows of the keyboard, so it will be a bit different depending on the keyb you have

@@CASSDesigns thanks, do you have a tutorial on how i can color it? gg for the fast reply bro :)
@CASSDesigns
3 жыл бұрын
@@cristoxz4964 I don't but what you can do is buy some acrylic based paints, spray paint it with primer first then paint it with a couple of layers of acrylic. Or, just spraypaint it if you're doing one solid color

Thanks for this. Asked myself this exact question a couple weeks ago. Started looking into CAD/SCAD as a result, wasn't sure where to start. Even started playing around with FreeCAD (which is awesome as a free tool) but really wasn't interested in going through and learning things I knew I'd never need to know, just in order to get to the info I needed.

No problem - I have one other video on designing a keycap that shows the general 3D modeling software tools that I use in a lot of different softwares so that might give you some information on other simple functions you’d use often

wont you need to print with supports because of the inside of the keycap??
@CASSDesigns
3 жыл бұрын
Yes you will, you can add supports in your slicer software you don’t need to worry about them when making the model
@pgoffinet17
3 жыл бұрын
@@CASSDesigns I'm worried about the supports being a pain to remove from certain parts, I tried printing them upside down to avoid having to use supports but then the top of the keycap had the first layer print lines on it. Thanks for the quick response!
@CASSDesigns
3 жыл бұрын
@@pgoffinet17 no problem - you can add support blockers in the little ‘+’ section that fits on the switch - this way you don’t need to remove those supports (and they aren’t really necessary in there anyways). It’s easy to remove all of the other supports. You can look up how to add support blockers on different slicer softwares
