Why add all the pretend reactions to a "rough" ride? There's no way you noticed a major difference. OEM springs with one coil gone are still likely around 1/2 as stiff as proper lowering springs. So lowering springs will only make the ride even worse. It's ok to just tell people cut springs aren't that safe and leave it a that...

I can answer this question. Yes. I do it. It's not the best, but it's not terrible. Just gotta be careful. Also I didn't cut my springs I bought the car that way unfortunately.

Just heat up the springs with a blow torch much easier

Hey let's just go and change the temper on a bit of steel which is critical to the car's function. Sounds good.

Yeah that's a terrible idea! Spring steel has a specific heat treatment, which you would ruin.

eh but if you are going through the effort of pulling the struts out and you have access to spring compressors why wouldn't you replace the springs .... chopping is for when those fuckers are still in the car and you dont give a fuck

Gatis Girdenis cause the lowering springs have the flat bottom and correct pitch to seat correctly in the a-arm and not pop out.
@iamstd2
6 жыл бұрын
Gatis Girdenis lowering springs are the same height as a stock spring uncompressed. The difference is that they have a progressive spring rate, which means part of the spring is softer than stock, and the rest is stiffer than stock. So when you put the car back on the ground, the softer part compresses more, thus lowering your car.

Don't know why they bothered removing the strut/spring... Just get the angle grinder out and cut it in place.

You need to replace the shocks if you use lowering springs as the lowering springs will not be captive either. Think you need to try before giving terrible advice

Bs, of course you can drive it. You would obviously put hose clamps so that the springs wont jump out, at least in the back. I daily drive my volvo with barley any rounds left on the spring, works just fine. Know many people that has removed the spring completely aswell. Btw you can cut the springs as they sit in the car.

WTF.... Car manufactures spend tons of money, testing and designing cars for the best performance and comfort.... And idiots go and start fuckin with it... You cut the springs and lower the car.. then the wheel alignment is off.... And you're putting more stress on other parts of the car.... Not to mention the danger if it did come loose... Even a lowering kit messes up the comfort.... Simply put on some bigger low profile tires and wheels and be done with it.....

hey it's The Avenue in Beckenham! My aunt lives on the paved bit. I'm sure I've taken a picture of the W123 in the background at 6:50 before. Oh, and The Avenue isn't private. I've no idea why it's not paved.
