Thanks for the mention mate! 😂 I do this type of wash in the winter months with Auto Foam, does enough to keep the car looking respectable until the weather starts improving & the days become long enough that you can do more. On the foam to clean the alloys, I've started using whatever foam I have in the lance as my wheel cleaner & when agitated, cleans the whees up well. Very rarely do I need anything stronger now than a hit of fallout every 2-3 months.
@SuperchargedLlama
8 ай бұрын
You're welcome dude, your comments are always constructive so it's always fun chatting about stuff. With regards to the alloys, I can see me doing the same as you tbh, the agitation is what's needed to make a bigger impact, although a bit of something like Detail Bug Mantis wouldn't hurt... ultimately a single product at a single dilution is where the big efficiencies lie I think, the prep needed to do a pump foamer full of wheel shampoo sort of nulls part of the speed you get, better to spend that time giving the wheels a quick tickle with a brush!

I know you compared Vb in a previous video to Superfoam, GSF + Greenstar and Auto Foam - in that video you mentioned Vb is KC's TFR, therefore is Vb known to have the potential risks associated with TFR? E.g. could be caustic/can stain plastics etc? Cheers.
@SuperchargedLlama
8 ай бұрын
Yeah I was apparently wrong in saying that. It is a mildly caustic pre-wash, yes, but it's nowhere near as potent as a TFR apparently (James from Slim's gave me that insight).

Koch Chemie have even stronger prewashes wich would be their TFR-type of product. Pb (Prewash B) has a pH of 13.9, and should probably be used with caution. On a sidenote: Both Pb, Vb and Sf also come in a "NTA-free version" (then named Pbn/Vbn and Sfn). I'm not a chemist, and wonder if the NTA-free versions are non caustic versions?

You should do a comparison of a contactless wash versus just pressure washing alone. I don't think I've ever seen a pre-wash that gets rid of any more dirt than just pressure washing the car alone, even high alkaline ones. I've never used a pre-wash or touch less wash myself because my pressure washer removes all of the dirt and none of these (that I've found) are going to get rid of any more dirt than high pressure water being blasted close to the panel. 🤷

Do you think vb kills the lsp? What's wrong with citrus?
@SuperchargedLlama
8 ай бұрын
This is a good question. I reckon Vb, like Garage Therapy Decon, could kill a wax or sealant at the absolute end of its life, but something that's healthy? No, not unless it's a show wax. It can definitely degrade an lspomlre quickly than washing with a neutral shampoo, but Vb isn't something you'd likely use on your own car all that frequently if it's reasonably well maintained. You'll see in the next video, I did this contactless wash, than I did a contact wash with it foamed on at 1% PIR/1:9 and then used the flow head to do the contact wash. The Infinity Wax QDX I applied two weeks before, and looked masked on the lower parts of the door here, sprung back to life. Was it a bit degraded? Sure. Was that down to the Vb? I don't think so, the front wings are still going like the clappers. As for citrus; they are all (from the ones I've used) such poor performing pre-washes compared to alkaline snow foams. Citrus came from a time when waxes weren't so chemically resistant, so you needed to be more careful....these days that's just not a consideration I have any more. I mean, if a ceramic QD like QDX has lasted 4 weeks over winter, what's the argument?

@@SuperchargedLlama About citrus.. Check if you can find shiny Garage citrus traffic film remover, it is strong. In my country there is hardly any (true) citrus cleaner, they are only by the name and have no d-limonen inside, so I always tried to find one. About vb.. I have it, along with bilt hamber auto foam and touch-less, I use them only when there is much dirt on the car. However, I have this problem, even with lighter cleaners, after just 1-2 weeks I have the impression that my sealant is almost dead, the beading is nowhere near the first time. In case of rain, there is beading, though, but after washing it I can see only minor beading. I start to believe the rinsing is not good maybe..? I heard you refer to masking effect of some shampoos.. How is it possible? Why to produce them like that in the first place?
@SuperchargedLlama
8 ай бұрын
@@flowinthrou I wrote you a long reply yesterday but failed to actually post it! Doh. Second time is a charm, hopefully! It's good you mention Shiny Garage Citrus, because that is very much like Stjanagloss Först in the sense that is incredibly potent, but it's also caustic. You're right that is has d-limonen in it, but it's the hydrogen peroxide that adds the real bit in combination, and then in that sense it's very similar to Vb. The real true citrus cleaners don't have the caustic agents, but then they aren't very effective in comparison to non-caustic, but strong alkaline pre-washes, like AutoFoam/Touchless/Garage Therapy Snow, Koch Super Foam. Now the other part of your comment, I loved this bit: why do manufacturers make shampoos that end up masking the LSPs....and I don't really know. I get that a lot of shampoos have other stuff in them, aside from surfactants, like gloss enhancers, rust inhibitors etc, and I think it's these elements which stay behind/around for a bit and mask the hydrophobics.....but then some are just shit shampoos with rubbish formulations that trade loads of bubbles over rinsing ability.

Thanx for your time. I have shiny garage tfr but I have not used it yet, of fear it will remove my lsp. But this could be an advantage.. The panel would be preped for a new application.
