Great coincidence - I just saw tea flowers advertised today because they became available at a local store!

That was interesting! It slightly reminded me of Ya Bao (tea from buds of Pu-Erh trees. As in the buds that would grow into branches, not leaves). I think they're supposed to have very little coffein, and should also be good for aging. I like Ya Bao ... but never tasted the flowers. Judging from your video, I didn't miss much. 🙂

I can see why you are kinda refering to this as a tisane (herbal) but if it's camelia sinensis it's arguably actually tea; alternatively strickly speaking Yerba mate and Yaupon are caffienated tisanes. Some people are making tea from ornamental Camelias; tea aligned tisane? Certainly very early buds on ornamentals can have a white tea type flavour when chewed off the bush. I presume tea flowers would be pretty low in caffiene. Interestingly Citrus produce caffiene in their flowers to reward bees which is a interesting twist on the over simplistic idea that caffiene is biosynthesised as pest control (which it also does).
