Considering I just sold an AMD Sempron 145 (1C/2T) AM3 CPU to a guy that was replacing a defective one of the same model to play REALLY low-end e-sports titles with 4Gb single channel RAM, this would still be an acceptable upgrade on a VERY limited budget for a VERY niche demographic.

Yeah I honestly prefer testing super low end stuff compared to more capable components just because it's really cool to see how much performance you can squeeze out of stuff that costs very little.

I only found out about your channel a few days ago but I really like your content. I'd love to see the direction of the upgrade process in the pt2 of that series. The card in this video is fine for using it as a display adapter for sure I have an HD 5450 for simple display adapter (I got it for literally 0€) . As a backup GPU I have the R9 270 which I bought for 20€ a few months ago which is absolutely fine when it comes to gaming in most of the slightly older games.

I gamed on this card for five years. It was paired with an core 2 quad q6600 and 4 gigs of ram. The desktop was from the trash and the gpu was from work. I played quite a bit of Garry's Mod and CoD World at War on it. I added some very cheap rbg lights for Christmas. The case was falling apart and covered in stickers lol. Eventually all but two usb ports died so I had to use a usb hub. I played Subnautica, The Forest, CSGO, Rocket League, Crysis 3, Portal 2, and so much more on it. The pc was a trip.

Appreciate you examining ultra cheap cards. Every other KZitemr reviews $200-$500 cards (which I cannot afford right now). Are there any $40 or $60 cards that CAN handle some 1080p gaming?
@UltraBudgetPC
Жыл бұрын
Yes there are. From my experience, the RX 460 and 560 can handle older titles at 1080p just fine and most eSports games. Those will run you $35-$45 usually. If you get lucky, you might be able to snag an RX 470, RX 570 for under $60 as well which are even better. Another option would be something a bit older like a GTX 970 which I was very impressed with for being a 9 year old GPU. Those are just at some cards I've tested and worked with before. There are probably others in that price range as well.

It's all about the games you try to play and at what resolution. I'd wager that AAA games that aren't too heavy up to and around 2010 would be playable. So Borderlands 1 (original version), Bioshock 1 etc. Since in terms of performance the R5 240 1GB is basically a slightly slower HD4850 1GB but DX12 capable, you'd probably have to drop to 720p if trying to run anything newer, even if its something like DOTA2 or LoL.
@UltraBudgetPC
Жыл бұрын
And for some people, 720p is plenty. I grew up having fun with Gameboy and DS, depending on the game, resolution is not too important.
@MrBrewsterbuffalo

@@UltraBudgetPC Oh, absolutely. My first gaming machine was a Intel 386 PC compatible, so 720p or similar is good enough for me. Especially if the display runs natively at that sub-1080p resolution.

Favourite overclocker. Bios mod it to 1.25V, aim a fan on it, then overclock it to 1250 mhz, 1300 mem. Overclocks up to 40% more performance.

@@UltraBudgetPC Well, i have this and the bigger brother with the same chip, the 2gb DDR 5 R5 430. For the R5 430,it plays control at 600p 30 fps, star wars jedi falled order (the first one) at 600p 30 fps. Low settings. The r5 430 overclocks less than that r5 240 through. Also runs fine with the Re2remake with the potatomod at 600p.

Suggestion for other budgets: r7 260x / r7 360 (25 USD), HD 5850 / HD 6850 (20 USD) with 21.5.2 Nimez driver. I would also say a GTX 460 (20 USD), but it eats too much power and no new driver support. 2) P106-90 with IGPU, dartraiden drivers. Cost about 20 USD with the performance of a 1050. I succesfully paired it with a ryzen 5600g, but i am not sure for intel igpu.

Next question, does Nimez give it even a scrap more performance, or let it run something it couldn't before, or has the 22.6.1 legacy stolen Nimez's thunder

If you can get something like a Ryzen 5 2600 for less than $45 that would be a good purchase and pair it with a B450 motherboard which gives you an upgrade path all the way to 5th gen Ryzen.the Ryzen 5 1600 would also be a good purchase and is usually a little less on eBay listings. Either way, it's a 6 core 12 threads processor that when paired with a modest GPU can play games 1080 well. Other options that are cheaper and older could include 4th gen Intel i5's like the 4590 or 4690. Those would be a bit older and on older platforms but cost a little less for the processor, Motherboard and DDR3. That's just my experience and what I've seen.

There's admittedly a lot of directions you could go with this, some of which I haven't explored yet. getting components on the local market will usually lead to the best value and deals, but just going off current Ebay prices, I'd probably recommend a office desktop prebuilt for as cheap as you can get one with at least a 4th gen i5 and 8 gb of ram but it would be better if it had 16. if you could get one with a storage drive included, that's a bonus. Here is an example I found on ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/155734142894?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=tUJztAV6S3i&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=iiwvoz-ssy-&widget_ver=artemis&media Something like that, with a Quadro K620 for around $15 to $20 and a 512 gb Sata SSD for about $20 would put you around $100 and you'd be able to play older AAA titles and Esports at 1080p low or at least 720p with great FPS. Would I recommend a system like this if you know you're going to be more serious about gaming and play some newer more intensive games? No of course not... But if the games you intend to play are easy to run and you just want a casual experience with a minimal monetary investment, something like this recommendation would probably satisfy your needs. Obviously the higher you go up in budget, heck, even $150-$200, you'd be talking about exponentially higher performance in most cases. And like I said, you could even get some amazing deals on the local used market and put something together that outperforms the suggestion I gave you.

There are a ton of great resources on KZitem. Many tech KZitemrs have made tutorials with step by step instructions and you can follow along with them once you get your components. As for actually getting the components, those videos are good for that as well but also do research on what you intend using the PC for like what kind of games or programs you intend to run. Research the requirements for your use case and plan your build accordingly.
