If you're from the foreign country and wants to have a vacation here in the Philippines, then it's very cheap. But if you're living here and had a minimum wage salary, then I can tell you it's very expensive to live here as a Filipino

Correct, cheap for foreigners who earn dollar's, expensive for the ordinary filipinos who earn minimum, idiot government😅

Kung kumikita ka ng minimum $15.50/hour dito sa Canada, you can have $2,000 a month. Minus mo ang $1,200/month na bayad mo sa tinutuluyan mo na 1br apartment (internet and cable are not included. Usually electricity and water lang kasama sa rent) cable and internet costs $150/month. Phone let’s say $30/month the cheapest depende sa plan mo.

Electricity is expensive in the Philippines as well as the cost of purchasing computers and electronic devices. Rent depends on the amenities you need. If you have local contacts, some of them will let you sleep in a temporary room with their family and you can just spend extra for their food or give them hard-to-find gifts from the US. Plan your itinerary if you need to travel and move often. Living just outside the big cities is cheaper but the traffic and travel time will be problematic. Learn first how to ride a scooter so you can rent one and not have traffic or travel problems, but be careful when driving. Go with a local Filipino as a your guide to avoid being scammed.

If you live in the city, prices of everything are almost expensive atm. You can live below your means by buying your foods from "Palengke" or Wet market and don't indulge yourself in fancy restaurants and services. That's how you can survive in this trying time in the Ph.

Well, I must say that living in Manila or cities is a little bit expensive compared to living in the provinces. Everything there has a price. I live in the province, we don't pay for water. We have a water pump and you just need to pump it to get water. But we buy drinking water for safety. We also plant vegetables in our backyard, so we don't need to pay for it. 😂

5G downloads where I’m at would usually be around 160-210mbps. Upload speeds are just around 26-30mbps. It improved about 700% for download and 300% for upload speeds from a year ago. Who am I to complain 😅🤭

Internet plans have been improved quite a lot during the pandemic here in Philippines (at least in metro manila). I live in metro manila and Pre pandemic I was paying around $37 for 50mbps, but now I am getting 620mbps for the same amount of $37/month (my contract states I should only be getting up to 400mbps for my plan but dunno why I'm getting 620+ mbps, couldn't complain though).

Ovela, Don't even think about it. With your understanding of the filipino culture, it will be a blast! I have no doubt that you will have fun! You might be even able to meet some of the celebrities that you've reacted to. Like anywhere else, there are safe places and not so places so be mindful of that. First thing is to find a friend there (which will not be hard) to trust and get you situated and would give you tips on where to go and most especially how you could stretch your hard-earned dollar! Morissette Amon might even find a time to pick you up at the airport who know? Budahkhel too??God Bless!

I don't think it's cheap when you add it all up. -- Being furnished drives up the price a lot ! -- That $100/mo looks much better to me - maybe less if long term ?!? -- If you are staying in one area - I could see using this for a month or 2 or longer while looking for an ideal place. -?-

I agree with him completely. I t is cheap to live here in the Philippines if you are a dollar earner, but not if you are a Filipino. I am a retired US merchant marine and am a Filipino now residing here in the Island with my wife. To be able to live comportable here in the Philippines at least you have a one thousand dollars a month income. For a filipino who earns his income the hard way this 1k a month is more than enough. But if I have to live in the United states with only a thousand dollar a month income, I would belong to the poorest among the poor.Rock bottom ! I am now 71 years old and I live a lot easier than the average Filipino. That is if you believe evrything I said. hahahahahaha

I'm an expat living in Dumaguete city, went to the local barber shop to get a haircut as I was waiting my turn I noticed the barber Never cleaned the clippers, comb, scissors, after cutting someones hair. When I got my haircut later in the after noon my scalp starting itching when I got to my apartment I noticed I had ticks on my scalp, and later I had a scalp rash. The price is $1.00 dollar yet you get ticks, the barber shop was dirty no air conditioner never will I get a haircut outside the mall, living is cheap but life is sub standard. I don't like it here anymore so I'm going back to the USA on Jan 2024 never coming back to this 3rd word poverty country.
