For anyone wondering about the happiness is a warm gun organ part... It's in the first 15 secs of the song. Depending on which official mix you have heard/ are used to, it's a little more tricky to hear. The pre rock band mixes (the original mixes and remasters before 2009) have it tucked very quietly behind John's guitar part in the very first section... almost to give it a more ethereal/swirly sound... now that you are aware of it, go back and listen to those older mixes, you can't miss it... then with the rock band/post 2009 mixes, it's been up front and on its own ever since and can hear it clear as day... just a testament to how amazing the beatles engineers were

You could definitely do plenty more guessing the Beatles song based on the specific part, or even the bassline or drum parts, given that you've only covered a small part of their discography. You could also do like random song lyrics, or maybe rhythm guitar (that would probably be pretty difficult). Then there's always Radiohead 😉

Loved this! Other ideas: Beatles songs that feature people's names (not sure what the quiz would be, though), guess the song by listening to Ringo's drum part alone, guess the Beatles song by listening to one opening note or one second of music, listen to five-second snippets of Beatles songs one after another and place them in the correct album (rapidly).

This beatles quiz was a lot easier than the bass and drum quizzes. I think I got 13 right in this one.

Come Together on the first song. 2. Guitar Gently Weeps. 3. Day In The Life 4. Here Comes The Sun. 5. I Am The Walrus 6. Good Morning, Good Morning. 7. Old Brown Shoe 8. Oh, Darling! 9. Hello, Goodbye 10. Little Help From My Friends 11. Back In The U.S.S.R 12. Don't Let Me Down 13. Strawberry Fields Forever 14. Help! 15. Happiness Is A Warm Gun. 16. I Want To Hold Your Hand. 17. Fixing A Whole. So I got all but one, so about 94% but then I've been on earth and a fan long before you were around. Great 'quiz' and what an iconic band!

Don't feel bad, because this one was tough. Got 11/18 but have been listening to the Beatles since they first broke in America in '64. Your knowledge of their work is exceptional. Not easy this one. ✌

You Never Give Me Your Money Is In the Semi-Solo part right before the "one sweet dream, pack up your bags get in the limousine part". The guitar solo is removed so that's why you hear the bell more clearly.

Strange how raw and almost dissonant these sound isolated like this. It shows (yet again) the talent the Beatles had - putting together bits, many of which I would have assumed were not good enough, to make a perfect finished product. How could they hear/see that??

One idea for your quiz could be to use parts of chord progressions played without rhythmic context on a neutral instrument like an organ.

0:54 At the end of the 1st time the sound repeats, there's a faint background noise that gives away other sounds in the song, and Come Toghether imediately came to my mind.

Loved that! The two I got that you missed were Help and USSR - surprised myself a little! Might be fun to see if you can name songs from an excerpt of a cover version, so you can’t base it off time period production clues.

I don't know if it would be possible or even a good quiz but backing vocals could be fun to guess. There are some songs that are definitely harder but also some that would be very recognizable.

Being my favorite band since I was a tot in the 70's, I got 6 right, 6 i bit my tongue for missing, and 6 i was completely dumbfounded by. They layered so much, and had such a thick quality tgat I'd seriously have to see this first hand to believe anyone claiming more than 50% accuracy. They were and are still the greatest, and teaching us still to those that listen.

15/18. A little lucky though because I’ve been having heavy Beatles phases the last few months so it’s a lot fresher in my mind, but they are undoubted my most listened to band by a heavy margin throughout my life.

Man, I thought I would do well on this and was quickly disabused of that notion. Ended up with 6/18. Made up some ground on you near the end with that whole "Fixing a Hole" debacle. :) The only Beatles album I've listened to in the past couple years was one spin of the White Album a few weeks ago, but that did not help me at all with the Happiness/USSR questions. Fun quiz!

Got them all except 1, 7, 10, 15 and 16. Another possible Beatles quiz is: guess the song from the guitar solo, or from a snatch of wordless vocal harmony. And there's the solo works to explore of course.

I was stumped by "Come Together," "You Never Give Me Your Money" and "Happiness Is A Warm Gun." The last one (Warm Gun) really threw me for a loop because the keyboard is barely audible in the stereo mix, and not much more audible in the mono mix. I just never noticed it before.

Very tough quiz. Like you, a fair few where I though "I know that but can't place it". But song 15 is clearly in 4/4 - it really doesn't have anything like a 6/8 feel to it. Looking forward to checking out the other quizzes
