Takes me back to 70s.I was 17. I got hold of some Elmore James LPs. I saw the pictures of Elmores guitar on the cover. I put away my electric guitar, took my crappy acoustic, stuck an electric pickup in the soundhole. Then turned up my amp and started sliding. The thing is I tried all Elmores songs in standard tuning at first. But the biggest problem was trying to sing like Elmore with my sqeeky little voice. Its a little better now I´m 65. This video is great. Great sound and with a great attitude that will help a lot of younger players. May Elmore rest in peace. Great musician.

Hey Pilgrim, I have been a big fan for a long time. I notice you aren't muting the strings with your left hand. I started slide yesterday and I saw on youtube that I should lay my fingers on the left hand gently to mute the strings. If I don't do that my strings buzz. But the I see you and I also saw Eric Clapton and you do not use that technique. Can you explain? thank you.

The question " Can you play...? " is much more than just a rhetorical one. Whenever I compare original recordings with performances of today, I have serious doubt, the old guitar slingers are in fact able (!) to play the original licks if they wanted. Example: Pretty Things / Dick Taylor : Mama, Keep Your Big Mouth Shut ( the 30+ second guitar solo is second-to-none in 60 years ) Example: Rolling Stones / Keith Richards : It's All Over Now ( nobody ever since, Keith included, could play the solo this way ) So, dear Pilgrim, lend your ear to the above and make a video, playing the stuff note-by-note. If anybody can do it - it's gotta be yourself !
