@Joshua79C
5 жыл бұрын
Do you even know what the fee is for? Here is a break down; - These machines require maintenance and repairs which cost them money on top of having it manufactured - Seeing as it is called a processing fee this part they have done for them by the like of Loomis, Dunbar or Brinks or other such armored service, - The locations they are at those places are taking a cut for allowing them an providing you an access point at their establishment. - Their No Fee options may not cost you anything but the retailers themselves where available at select location are themselves paying this fee so you can load your cash onto a valid voucher at their establishment(s). Same for Donation to Charity option which is tax deductible on top of it so KEEP that Voucher for the IRS. After all those things are paid of and they pay themselves for what they do in their offices at HQ or such goes to the company itself as actual Profit. And since not all locations charge the same convenience fee but it ranges from 0% as a few said their banks offer use of the Coinstar for no fee is you are a "customer" at their establishment ...at most you have to loose is 11.9% to them, still more fair than the IRS taking 25% fro your $5,000+ lottery winnings up front and another possible 14.6% at most at tax time depending on amount of winnings and their taxable income bracket on this. But now a days you would be hard pressed to find a bank with no fee and provides their own non Coinstar machine even still yet or let alone they will take rolled coins which they may open up and ruin your efforts if you took the time to roll them just to check you are not trying to a pull a fast by stuffing any rolls with some sort of filler. Lastly of all if you knew much or bothered to look it up you would know what coins Coinstar will look for that they will not accept other than Foreign coins, but any actual copper penny or silver coins, they even spit back out the steel penny of which those two pennies are worth way more than their face value due to their era of minting and rarity. But remember at most it will take in fee is 11.9% out of every dollar, to they make a profit of $119 if you inserted $1000 in coins,, rather use it than waste my time finding a bank that will accept it without any hassle or possible higher fee is any fee at all.

What if the machine has a bigger range of error with more change. I mean if it's off with a small bag imagine how material it would be on your side if they missed close to 2 dollars or 3! They already take a huge cut from the total amount. It can also be set up to avoid risk. They can set a preliminary risk rate much higher when the machine counts a variety of different coins and have a lower risk rate when the machine counts more of the same type of coin. This means that the machine is acceptable to be wrong as long as the different type of coins is inserted. Whoever made this knew that no one would count exactly how much of each coins a user has if they have 3 bucks full. They also knew that majority of people that would use this would do so spontaneously.

Pro tip. Use self scan machines. Buy something you want like a candy bar, and the machine will just gobble all the coins you give it. The Conveyor belt Intakes work best for this, and you're actually helping to fill its change stores. Just don't do it if the light is flashing amber, as this is actually a signal to staff that the machine requires attending to. This could mean that it is running low on a coin, but it could also indicate that one of its chain stores are getting full.

As a career service tech for a certain brand of coin sorter/counter, the machine did not "error in it's favor". Human error is nearly always the cause of mis-counting. Machines today have dual electronic sensors which are 100% accurate 100% of the time. Problems will occur if you have dirt, dust, foreign coin or foreign matter, or mutilated coin to process.

You know some people don't have a bank which near the store.So they would use the machine. Debt is a problem if your paying it to you account. If you did not know not every bank let you change all coins. They have certain rules on what they take. As well some only let you put money it into your account then draw it out.
@twoeightythreez

Mark Spohn most banks ive been to will not accept loose change...you have to roll it. It makes no sense because they must break them open and verify its all real coinage but that is how it is
