Most Euro based dual nats for the USMNT have been shell shocked by it. Whenever the camera showed Folarin on the bench he even looked relieved that he went out in the last game. Not angry that he was taken out of the game. Fast pass in the midfield third and only dribble when you attack the box in the offensive third. Otherwise you get taken out or the space for passing is shut down immediately. Defenders will always get the man if the don't get the ball.

Think of all the huge save Max had against Argentina because he came out and challenged. The others are expecting Max to have foresight and to read the play before it’s happened. As soon as Max realized Bombito was beaten he was running back to defend. Can’t always read the play so well even for a well seasoned guy especially one taking chances

The refereeing wasn't terrible. This is what CONMEBOL refereeing is like. The referees will try to avoid giving yellows and reds as much as they possibly can but they are okay with giving fouls and free kicks. CONCACAF and UEFA region refereeing have their own quirks too. Here's the big point I'm trying to make. The referees will be refereeing like this for the rest of the tournament. It's up to all teams to live with it and adjust accordingly.

@@jrcanuck1 I agree that some if not many decisions haven't been right. And in fact, those issues can be addressed over the long term with CONMEBOL and/or FIFA and/or CONCACAF. If they let the refereeing get to them emotionally then they will indeed lose. Jhamdan, try look into what Marsch actually said before you throw around groundless, quite frankly foolish insults. Marsch is a very intelligent man & a very good & experienced coach. He obviously didn't tell Crepeau to foolishly just move up & battle strikers in the midfield. He is always discussing tactics & strategies.

Marsh style always plays best against best teams. Not saying they’ll win but being aggressive and going for it instead of parking the bus it played well in premier league maybe not in results but you’ve got a punchers chance. It could be 4-3 or 5-2 it’s not going to be low scoring

Americans acting like the mad rapper having to talk about canada lmao except Hercules Gomez, all the respect in the world for that man. He played for Toronto FC, he's spent time in Canada, he's seen our program struggle to get off the ground and now he is enjoying watching those struggles turn into this fruition. Also one thing that needs to be said. having 11 better players dosent mean you play better. if 11 players of lower caliber can play a perfect game TOGETHOR, they can beat a much better opponent. You see it in the peru, panama, venezuela and canada squads. being better on paper or in salary means nothing.

TheManInTheRing, I agree with everything you said, except for the fact that I would take Canada's top 8 players (Davies, David, Larin, Buchanan, Shaffelburg, Eustaquio, Kone & Johnston) over the U.S. top 8 any day & Canada has the better keeper in Crepeau too. Not to mention the fact that Canada has several young players who also have a very bright future, such as Bombito & Cornelius & several players on their bench too.

Gl0bal7474, true, but there are no mid tier players on Canada's starting 11 roster. Most of them play successfully in Europe & the ones who don't (Shaffelburg, Bombito & Crepeau), have been excellent in this tournament & probably will next season.

USMensNationalTeam, his name is Bombito; but no. The fault was the Ref's for not giving a yellow card at the beginning of that play, as the Venezuelan Keeper ran to the sidelines & physically interfered with Canada's player doing the throw in of the ball. The fact that the Ref did not give a Yellow card, totally stunned the whole Canadian team & coach. That play should never have occurred. Not sure which game the guys on this panel were watching that they never saw that obvious totally missed call by the Ref & that they somehow think that most of Canada's starters are from MLS, when they are not at all...
