@ Boss Galka, if you can find the brackets it will make more sense. Poongko had lost to Pepedai in an earlier round, so he was in the losers bracket. That meant he had to play against Pepedai twice in the finals to win it. The first time he beat him, it made it tied up since Pepedai had beat him earlier. So the final few were the ones that mattered and whoever won those, won the whole thing.

***** Don't know where the bloody reply button disappeared to under your comment, anyway... A popular format for fighting games is the double elimination format - this essentially means you get an extra life, being able to lose once in tournament and continue. Lose twice and you're out. In this case, a loss is classed as losing a match - best 2 out of 3 games, usually up until top 8 (quarter-finals). After which, it resorts to best 3 out of 5. If you make it to Grand Finals (GFs), having been knocked into the losers bracket (as was the case with Poongko), then once in the GFs, you need to knock the opponent into losers bracket (also known as 'resetting the bracket') to make things even (as they have not lost a single match). Then, you need to beat them "on even terms" and win the second set of 3 out of 5 matches in order to win the game and tournament outright. If you were in the winners bracket, then you would only be required to win one set of 3 out of 5 to win the tournament. I tried to be concise, but explain fully and clearly. Sorry if it's a little lengthy.

@colz10

***** the tournaments are double elimination, so you are only done once you lose 2 matches. Pepeday was in winners, meaning he never lost a set. so it would be unfair for him to lose the tournament after just one lost match. Poongko had already lost one match. as for the number of wins, in Finals a match is best of 5 games or 3 wins(earlier in the tourney it's best of 3 or 2 wins). each game consists of best of 3 rounds. so essentially, they have to win the same number of rounds to advance. keep in mind that the reason for this is that unlike other genres (MOBAs, RTS, etc), there's not a lot of time to adjust and comeback within a game. fighting games (especially older ones) can finish pretty quickly. a single mistake can cost you dearly. the multiple games per match allow you more chances to adjust and not get randomed out. besides, it's much simpler than dealing with like MLG's continuation rule.
@BossGalka

I like fighting games and all, but I don't understand the tournament setups. Poongka won like 20 matches, and then Pepede comes back, wins 2 or 3 and then wins it all? How in the fuck does that work?
@gaddeath
7 жыл бұрын
it's double elimination meaning you have to lose two sets to be eliminated. Poongko lost one game so if lost again he's done, eliminated. pepeday never lost yet so Poongko had to beat him twice hence the "6-0" talk.

Pepeday is good and everything BUT he does PERFECTLY NORMAL COMBOS AND "SHENANIGANS" FOR ANY FUERTE USER. What the actual fuck is all this hype??? Im happy Fuerte got boosted with a invincible Quesadila bomb but what the fuck. Its like saying "OMG RYU IS ZONING WITH THOSE FIREBALLS HES KILLING IT!!" NO. just no. its normal shit. Im making a statement right now I can beat Pepeday, ANY day.
