The rising interest rate can surely control inflation, but won't prevent erosion of the eroding purchasing power of the US dollar. I have learnt my lesson this time. The banks can't be making money off my money, while inflation eats into it. I have set aside 650k to invest in the stock market now, since that keeps up with inflation, but I don't know how to get started.

It sickens me that American's are able to lock in a mortgage rate for 30 years while in Canada the best we can do is 5 years. I really think that this should be changed. It is so hard to plan your future not knowing what your mortgage rate is going to be be 5 years or less at any given point. I would love to see this increase even by a year or two. It would make a big difference to so many young Canadians trying to chart out their lives.

As they said we won’t be able to build enough housing to improve affordability. We need massive productivity gains and a growing economy, not just overall GDP but per capita. Expensive housing is not a new phenomenon, it’s been too expensive for at least a decade. But under Harper’s covert, Canadians could get richer quicker. After a decade of Trudeau, no one wants to invest in Canada, NDP also strangles private capital where it has influence, we need to de regulate our economy and then drop corporation tax significantly, Americans are more productive then Canadians, we need to find other ways to offset that and attract investment, the Irish model is perfect but with less redistribution ideally.
