캐나다 서부 브리티시컬럼비아주 산불 확산 주민 대피령
We begin today in Canada, which is seeing the season's first major wildfires.
Evacuation orders were given out to residents amid air quality warnings across several provinces.
As of Sunday morning local time, 40 active fires had burned more than 441,000 acres across Canada.
In western Canada's British Columbia, over 19,000 acres have been burnt by Sunday, as firefighters try to control the Parker Lake Wildfire, the largest fire in the region.
Thousands of residents in British Columbia, including the entire town of Fort Nelson have been evacuated.
In Alberta, residents of Fort McMurray, a regional oil hub, have been asked to prepare for evacuation. The Alberta regional government said that there are two out-of-control, extreme wildfires ongoing, burning over 13,000 acres over the weekend.
While Canada's wildfire season typically starts in May and continues through to September, Canadian authorities are preparing for one of the worst fire seasons ever, as the warm winter and ongoing drought are expected to exacerbate the fires.
