I live in that border state of Minnesota with the weird blip up into Canada that's mostly lake, so I'm more than well enough aware of that thing, but I had no idea there was a border of clear-cut land between the two countries. I've never seen it. However, I'm a Minnesotan and we live by the No Touching rule. Even if they're fellow Minnesotans. 😂

I'm a Canadian who's visited Minnesota a few times and have relatives there, so I get the border oddities. BTW I was dubbed an honorary Minnesotan in Bermuda by a couple from Duluth when I imitated a Manitoba farm equipment commercial, which had them in stitches. They asked me if I had any connections to the state, I told them my grandfather was born there. Instant buddies.

There's a documentary made by Michael Moore called 'Bowling for Columbine', which is more about the USA and their gun laws, but in a segment of the movie, M.Moore goes to an american house (in the state Michigan I think) and the owner literally comes out on his front porch with a shotgun and yells the crew to "get off his property" . After a brief discussion with the man (to calm the situation), Moore asks him if it was true that some Americans sleep with their guns. The man takes Moore inside his house and shows him an actual loaded revolver UNDER THE GUYS' PILLOW. Then a few moments later in the movie, the crew traverses the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor Canada, chooses a random house and decides to just walk in through the front door where a man is quietly sitting on his living room. The house owner politely asks Moore if he needed help with anything, to which Moore just says "Oh, I'M sorry, I'm in the wrong house; I just mistook the address."... The man just give a friendly wave and says something like " Oh, no problem, have a nice day!"... And doesn't even get up. lol... Talk about differences a border makes. 😅

Lots of these on state lines. Dade County Georgia had to drive northeast to Chattanooga Tennessee and then back south to go anywhere else in the State of Georgia, until a highway was cut across lookout mountain. Dade also has several communities you cant get to without leaving the state. The most notable one is Cole City Hollow. The fire department on Sand mountain has to drive in to Alabama, then down the mountain in to Tennessee before coming back in to Georgia an the hollow. The Sheriff in the valley has to drive east then north in to Tennessee, then back west to get around Sand mountain, to get in the hollow.

If you do a video about the Mexican border, you'll find it's very different. It's mostly either marked by an ugly fence/wall or hardly marked at all in the remote desert (in some places there are low-slung vehicle barriers preventing cars and trucks from driving across but making it easy for humans and animals to walk across and it's mostly the animals that are worried about). Then there's the roughly half that is marked by the Rio Grande River which isn't always so grand.

I've been to Point Roberts, Washington, a town that is only accessible through British Columbia, in about 2012. It's a quiet, pleasant town, but cut off from the rest of the US. They have a monument just like in the video maybe half a mile west of the Customs station on the main road where I stopped to take pictures. There's no fence, and I could easily have walked across the border to the back yards of the houses on the Canadian side. I did not because I knew I had more cameras on me than a movie star on the red carpet at the Oscars and didn't want to take any chances. When I crossed back into Canada I talked to the Customs officer (it was a slow day). He said before 9/11 they just basically waved people through. They knew the Point Roberts residents, many by name, and knew they were just harmlessly going about their business, accessing services not available in their small town. Unfortunately, they had to be more strict after that. 20 years later when the border was closed because of the pandemic the Point Roberts residents were even more isolated. I could probably Google how they coped during this time, but I can't imagine it was easy. Maybe the US and Canada could trade Point Roberts, Washington for Campobello Island, New Brunswick, which is only accessible through the US state of Maine? President Franklin Roosevelt had a summer home on Campobello Island anyway, so giving it to the Americans wouldn't be completely out of line. Just a thought.

We were on Waterton Lake - and went right across the US-Canadian border. (you get on and off in Canada) They come through about every ten years and cut everything to the ground along the border. The lake is only accessible by experienced hikers on the Glacier side. Waterton National Provencial Park is the Canadian side of the Waterton-Glacier (first) International Peace Park. Glacier National Park is in Montana. Because it's all part of the same eco system, it is more effective to manage it as one large area.

@SnowmanTF2

It does have the no touching zone. There are basically only two that seem to be remaining in the region, most were settled before Canada was an independent country. A territory of Canada Yukon has interest in getting access to the pacific where it is relatively close to but a thin strip of Alaska is between it and the Sea, which apparently Alaska has been open to, but US in general less so. Just northeast of that is status of the 'Northwest Passage' sea route, which Canada argues is an internal waterway of Canada, and the US argues is an International Strait.

@James-0077 About 4 months back I believe, he started a personal crusade against react channels, copyrighting them left and right. This was regardless of quality or circumstance. Probably the most egregious case was against Vlogging Through History, a historian who reacts to history related content and adds more detail and context, making videos transformative in nature by any reasonable definition. Grey gave him two copyright takedowns, nearly killing the channel, though he had to give those up because they were blatantly illegal claims he could not back up in court. Grey days prior to this also changed his policy on youtube comments so that only patrons could comment on videos. Meaning you had to pay to comment. His stated reason was to get rid of bots, but it doesn't take a genius to realize he did this to not have criticism of his scumbag moves be visible. Oh, and of course he never apologized for any of it. I've heard he's begun to lock older videos to patrons only, but I ditched him after all the previous stuff. He makes great content, but I won't support such an anti-education stance as he's taken. Best to just watch his content through the react channels until he can act like a decent human being.
