Wow, this video does a great job of giving you a sense of the scale of that aircraft! If I’m not mistaken the Soviets used it as an SR 71 hunter

We have one which is displayed in our Indian Air Force museum retired from service fitted with cameras, ... believe me this sucker is a monster, the afterburner exhaust are massive, I simply keep on visiting our Air Force museum on and on, and on, and on, just for this particular war machine, ...gosh it is a beast, I can imagine, the pilots who flew this machine with that power and speed, should still be proud of it 👌👌👌👍

Crews used to use the pure alcohol radar coolant as Soviet white lightning. They’d fill their bottles from every resupply. Nicknamed “the flying restaurant” according to Viktor Belenko’s autobiography MiG Pilot. Wish we could find a fighter version for display, or at least the wings for this one. Spectacular airplane.

What a beautiful fighter. I personally don't care about capabilities and I'm all for the looks. F-15, F-14, F-4, F-111, F-35, F-22 and I'd say all of the MiGs are in my top list of best looking fighters.

That’s a Iraqi mig 25 you can tell because Of the writing inside the cockpit and the flag and Iraqi Air Force insignia on the side of the plane a masterpiece and a great work of art in aviation history.

As a kid I loved jets but it was action figures or hot wheels on the store shelves. So, I was left with building model aircraft. After my first few, very amateur builds, my father told me about scaling in model building and told me to build all the same size models. Of all the ones I put together it was the MiG-25 I had bought at a Ben Franklin crafting store that was the largest of my collection, yet it was the same scale as the rest. I remember my dad reading me the information sheet about the Foxbat. That's when I heard my dad say, "if that's all true then this is the best damn jet to be flying in!" Soon after I found the MiG-31 Foxhound and put it together. My Dad said it was a little better than the Foxbat but not as fast but that if he had to pick one jet to fly he said "Either one, Foxbat or Foxhound." It eventually became an aircraft of study for me for awhile. Learning it's capabilities of performance, though it lacked maneuverability (Do you even need it that high up there with such long range weapons and radar?), datalinked capabilities, arctic operations and runway takeoffs, how it was a possible threat to our SR-71 and we had to end our reconnaissance missions to prevent a possible international incident. Very iconic aircraft. Quite a beast. Now that this Ukraine war has kicked off it's playing an important role and still has advantages over 5th generation fighters. Some now being outfitted to deploy the Kinzhal hypersonic missile. This old girl at dead yet!

So why are some of the cockpit controls and maintenance instructions in English? I'd expect them to all be Russian or Arabic/Kurdish based on Russian heritage or Iraqi ownership, but having a lot of English on it surprises me.

Chris, I must correct you on your own career. You were in the Canadian Air Force and were a Canadian fighter pilot. You flew the CF-5 and the CF-18... AND... you were a test pilot in/for the United States Air Force and Navy. Proud to falsely claim you were an American fighter pilot and unproudly to make no mention of being a Canadian fighter pilot.

The fastest airplane ever in THE HISTORY OF AVIATION! When he took off , the SR-71 stopped flying immediately , It's POWER in his mouth!!! The pilot managed to accelerate this bird to 4250 km /h!And the altitude record is 38km !!!!

The absolute speed record established by MiG 25 is 2981.5km/h, not "4250". The record established by the SR71 was 3529.6km/h.
