I remember me and my husband shared more love and were closer in the 19 months of his cancer battle than our entire 33 years together. It’s been 12 years now and I’m still alone, still miss, still reflect and sometimes still cry. But time does help to get you through. Someone told me you have to walk through the pain to get to the other side..keep putting one foot in front of the other. You are in my prayers . 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@candyapple5924….Very similar here, married 31 years, then my husband died of cancer. Been 19 years….this year ‘would have been’ our 50th Anniversary. I was always looking forward to celebrating it with him…..so it’s been a rough time still. He died on June 11, 2004. Yes, the most constant, intense pain of losing him has subsided somewhat….but it’s been replaced with a myriad of other pain, that I would not have had to deal with, had he still been here. Learning how to shift gears and cope….learning how to ‘let go’ of what doesn’t exist anymore, what doesn’t serve me….and allow room for new experiences. It’s definitely a ‘learning curve’. Some days, I allow myself room to just be left alone….as long as I know that I won’t stay there. But I tell myself I must forge ahead, or I will stagnate in a bad place…..but I know these things can’t be rushed either. I try to tell myself to look at new things as an ‘adventure’….that if I allow myself to appreciate new experiences, I may find new joy…..but I will never know this if I stay sullen and keep to myself. I pray that all of us who remain after our loves die before us, can find the strength and support that we need….and also be there for others who are new to this.

As a teenage kid who’s been into cars his entire life, my mom knew the Dukes Of Hazard would be a perfect show for me. It’s become a show that has helped me through some tough times, including when my mom passed from cancer about a year and a half ago. John, if you do happen to see this, I not only want to give you my deepest condolences, but also I want to thank you for being a part of a show that has helped me through so much. While the rest of my generation condemns Dukes for being “racist” and “problematic” (which it quite plainly isn’t, by the way) I want to make sure anyone has the ability to watch it, in the hopes that it may help them like it’s helped me. Thank you John. God bless you and your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You're better for having had her in your life and so lucky to have had such a beautiful bond as this...not everyone is so blessed. I lost my dad 2 weeks ago after an unexpected turn in his health and am in the depths of it as well. Life takes so many turns...you are supported and loved. I am a new subscriber and feel lucky to have found you here. Stay strong, Ana.

Love you John, may The Lord be with you Brother. My daughter loved The Lord and died at 19 of Leukemia. That was 22 years ago and I am still not over it. Never will be until God willing, we are reunited. Remember Hebrews 11:1: "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not being seen."

It breaks my heart. I dreamed of you two last night. She was just being Alicia. You know, the day she left for heaven, only moments after I got that phone call, the oncologist came into my hospital room and told me I had cancer. Thank you for this video, John. Thank you so much. ❤ I pray for you daily.

Thank you for sharing this and bringing attention to the importance of cancer awareness and staying in the driver's seat. Im so sorry for what you went through. I am 55 yo widow and just when i thought i was seeing some light i was diagnosed w pancreatic cancer in Dec 2022. Went two rounds of toxic chemo early this year but wised up. (Conventional medicine is largely a mess). I have a naturopathic doctor now and doing supplements and various iv treatments but when your insides just don’t work right and you cant eat its tough and hard for the body to recover. Its difficult even when you try to do all the right things yet it seems we still lose the fight. We live in a fallen world . I know Jesus so i am not afraid of what awaits, but suffering and pain is hard and its hard for those that watch us suffer. My husband went on ahead and i know that God had a purpose in all of it . All we can do is trust the Lord. This life is short but eternity is long. Praying for all those battling. Praying for your healing and peace.

John my heart goes out to you. I sincerely am sorry for your loss. Im very familiar dealing with loved ones with cancer. I lost my mom when I was 18 back in '92. She had pancreatic cancer. The doctors gave her a 1 to 2 month life span, she lived for 6 months. I truly believed she was going to beat it she fought hard. Then my dad who found out too late he had liver cancer. He died 8 days after diagnosis. We were very close. He always said he is the best friend I'll ever have. He was right. We got him into hospice. For some reason we didn't talk much. I didn't know what to say and I think he felt the same. My sisters he was telling them everything. Losing my dad still is something im dealing with. That was in '19. Now im going to a wedding party in a few weeks, my cousins wedding. I met his fiance a year ago. You ever meet someone who in about 5 minutes you felt you've known them for years? Her name is Jenn and she is just a wonderful human being. Recently she was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Im very sure this party will be the last time I will ever see Jenn. Im really grieving for her. Shes only 46 and full of life. I just dont know what to say. Im very happy for them both because they seem very perfect for each other but so sad my cousin is going to go through losing his wife. For you and Alicia the best part is you both found each other. Some people will never find their one and only. Your time together was short, it wasn't enough, but you were lucky enough to have the time you had. God bless you sir. Thank you for sharing with us.

She is on her second week of treatments. 67 years old. 😢🙏 Thanks for sharing your lives with us. So many good people taken way too soon. We need to live our lives to the fullest because cancer does not discriminate. The treatment while fighting cancer is half the battle. The hardest part is when your significant other is on hospice and you know the fight is over and you watch her wither away for weeks (mostly unconscious) until her body finally gives up. Then you feel relieved that her suffering is over but then you feel guilty for feeling that way. Then there’s all the friends and family that you haven’t heard from in years or ever at all that act like they’ve always been there or the good friends that just disappear because they don’t want to go though the process of fighting, losing and mourning. Life’s a trip! All we can do is remember our passes loved ones and co to use living the best we can one day at a time. Before you know it a whole decade has passed. That’s all I have. Cancer sucks!!!!

Oh my gosh! I could have written that! I lost my 36 year old daughter in 2021 due to Stage 4 cancer after a 14 month long battle. My heart goes out to you. I know how you feel. She was my only child. I feel so alone without her. I am looking forward to seeing her in Heaven someday. That’s the hope that gets me through the days along with any help I can give to good people on this earth. I say “good” people because like you, I have learned that there are people in this world that are not “sincerely” good. They lack empathy, and in some cases they are narcissists that 😢enjoy our pain. Some of these people are in our families. They are not there for you with or without cancer. They are there only when they want to “use you”. That’s why I love watching John’s devotion to his Smile. What a great husband he was!
