This is how it went down: > Benny had debate with Desty. > Holy big views 😱 > Candy was like, "My turn." > On the flight over reads/watches the researcher's highlights of D's content with her in it (they assumed he was = Hasan/alt-left) > Candy is seeing red, assistant/producer is pumping her up the whole way over. > She comes in 😡😤expecting apologies or to bulldozer. > Debate begins. > Candy doesn't hear a word Desty spoke aside from a few words that echoed the "research" that was still ringing in her ears too loudly. > Debate ends. > Candy will be thinking about that highschool comment for weeks. Did I miss anything? Edit: inb4 Hasan brings up Destiny's crackers comment.

Wait… do you and your chat actually think that fafsa will cover a 35k tuition?
@Kevin-me2dz
6 ай бұрын
Lol look it up. FAFSA covers a lot, not usually all, but wouldn't make you stuck with $100,000 worth of student loan debt for 4 years of college, especially if your parents are low income. FAFSA covers 12 full-time student terms (or 4 years) so it wouldn't help with grad school but DEFINITELY under grad which is what it sounds like Candace finished. It takes your tuition and income and takes off a certain percentage of tuition based on you or your families income. There's also a PLETHORA of grants and wavers to apply for that would help you with anything from tuition, school supplies, class payments, outright cash assistance, etc. The total percent student financial aid can cover is around 40-50% of tuition and sometimes the whole tuition can be covered... Candace complaining she had to pay back her FULL student loan debt is ridiculous if it were true her parents were low income. She should have had loooots of help paying that. But it sounds like she either didn't want the help/decided not to go to a counselor/decided not to file for student aid or is outright lying her family was low income. If she outright decided not to see a counselor/get help/get student aid at the time then she shouldn't be blaming the schools, the counselors and the government. If I were her I'd wanna kick myself in the ass for being a dumb teenager making my future self pay THAT much.
@keemarie1
6 ай бұрын
He must 😂 I usually agree with destiny on most things but… I went to school and got a certificate and that cost me 15k. My family was dirt poor.. like father on disability with a broke back and grandma getting SS. All together I think it was like $1700 a month we had to live on for 2 adults and 2 kids. The only way we survived was food stamps tbh. The FAFSA and Pell grants do not even pay for half of it. This was a crazy ass take for him to ask is she was lying about it!!
@jasonibanez9855
6 ай бұрын
Technically FAFSA will cover it, but FAFSA is not a single thing. FAFSA is the program that includes grants and loans. The typical grant is the Pell grant, which... back when Candace would have been in school, the maximum would have been less than $7k a year. That was not close enough for tuition + books/supplies + room and board + transportation. So yes, using FAFSA, you can get federal LOANS to cover the rest of expenses. I know because I was in the exact same situation as Candace. Didn't know until this either, but yes, I also defaulted on my FAFSA LOANS. Pell grant that I got didn't even cover enough for full years tuition- I was awarded like $4k. The rest was loans.
@Bridgetz90
6 ай бұрын
The most outrageous take 🤦🏼♀️😂
@Mac4zz
6 ай бұрын
The argument that Candace is lying is based on two things: 1. She said originally that she never filled out a fasfa because she didn't know how and her parents didn't help her. Then she contradicted herself afterwards by saying that she did fill out the fasfa after all. 2. She pretended not to know what fasfa is despite continuously claiming that she grew up "poor", which is something that most low-income hosueholds know about since they do have to worry about finding ways to send their kids to college. Yet she ended up going to an out of state college with loans without at least trying to secure any funds to go to college. Destiny isn't trying to say that Candance was going to guaranteed get fasfa money, only that most low-income households that are genuinely poor will qualify for the fasfa program and often times get some money to help pay off their student loans. And that her contradiction of saying she didn't know what fasfa was, that she never applied for it, to then say that she did apply for it was a inconceivable, contradictive pattern of words that indicate she is lying about something. He goes to further elaborate all the reasons on twitter where he leaves a link that further fleshes out why he thinks she is lying about her background, citing things like the median household income in the city she lived in, contradictions in her stories across other platforms, failures in her calculations that got her somehow a $150,000 student loan debt, etc. I suggest you go take a look because it cites a lot of good information.

Destiny thinks that going to university makes you more money than trade school, so let's look at the rough numbers. There are a lot of variables but I've tried to align them as much as I can. Average university fee for a 4 year course: Roughly $100k (yes, it turns out Candace was right on this) Average trade school fee for a 4 year course: Roughly $33k Average university dropout rate: Roughly 40% (~60% of people graduate) Average trade school dropout rate: Roughly 24% (~76% of people graduate) Average median salary for university graduates: $47,749 a year (from ZipRecruiter, July 2024) Average median salary for trade school graduates: $48,060 (from BLS, May 2023) So what this means is that with trade school it costs you an average of a third of what the universities do, and you are 60% as likely to drop out compared to universities. That means the general risk of trade school (regarding costs vs payoff) is about one fifth of the risk you run going to university. And then assuming you graduate, the average salary you're looking at after trade school is about the same as from the universities anyway after they've charged you about three times as much to get there. This took far too long to research, but it confirms that trade school is just the better choice. The only time universities are the way forward is in fields where degrees are an absolute necessity (which isn't as often as people are lead to believe), and if trade schools don't also provide them.

She had this weird story about how her favorite high-end store where they wait on you hand and foot happened to be empty one day except for them, not even employees, and she supposedly went into a dressing booth with him to get him to put on a dress and there were no witnesses, cameras, etc., and he supposedly raped her. She didn’t report it because she didn’t even consider it rape at the time because in her opinion, rape is supposed to be “sexy”.. Listening to her talk was mind-boggling. Any jury that would award someone like that so much for some vague “abuse” charge, even after the statute of limitations was removed just so she could make this claim against someone with no actual evidence, sounds corrupt..

"Check your privilege, Destiny." If you're a first generation college student, or come from a poor family, or an immigrant family, or one where English is not the first language, or any less than standard situation, the process of applying to college can be overwhelming. Not everyone goes to high school's with competent guidance counselors, especially if its an underfunded, overcrowded school. I made a lot of the same mistakes as Candace when going to school, choosing a private university instead of in-state, the wrong major, all of that, and ended up owing more money than I should have. That's because I was 17 and had no one to properly guide me because you can't teach what you don't know. So Destiny lecturing her about what she should have done or getting a counselor's help sounds incredibly out-of-touch and condescending.

Colleges need to stop being allowed to force students into paying for classes they do not need for their job. It should take at least one less year to obtain most degrees. I’m an RN and definitely glad I went to college. Neither of my adult children went to college. I didn’t make them because they had no desire to. I don’t think this force on people, but I do think if you go to college you could make more money in general. With that being said, teachers don’t leave me enough money and they go to college. I think teachers are getting the deal because they are between a rock and a hard place. (Parents, students, school systems, and board of education). They aren’t given the ability to use their degrees in the classroom. Also, what about all of the congress members taking advantage of not paying back their school loans. The majority of them making more money than any of us could ever dream of. Sorry this is so long. Love you Destiny.

I love how aware and alert Candace is. Especially when she noticed how contrarian was Destiny reacting to her attempts to answer his questions. He's not interested in knowing, just finding ways to prove her wrong, especially concerning Trump.

This guy has adhd. Completely flips conversations just to be correct. That’s what it is, but he cannot see it. That’s the acting like a kid at 35. It’s literally not his fault. Confuses everyone because you cannot follow his train of thought. He’s just wants to be in a majority and win.

About 13% of Americans have college debt, although this doesn't include people who have already paid it off. You do get essentially free money for going to college if you come from a poor family and complete the FAFSA, but how much also depends on the state and college. I got all my college expenses fully paid for this way, but Destiny was wrong to misrepresent how available this is.

Average of people that I know go to school in-state....actually most people go to college in-state and it's not 30,000 a year. We are talking average. Average. My international friends paid 30,000 a semester at top level universities. And the others were much less.

average in-state tuition in the US is about 9k per year. Full boat Pell grant if your parents are poor is 8400 per year. You should be able to get a 4 year degree with less than 10k in loans accounting for books/fees/incidentals. Probably less than 6k.

Way to strawman what she actually meant. It's really more like the car dealerships are in cahoots with the establishment to ensure that car buyers are constantly getting a bad deal where they are sold crappy cars at grossly inflated prices thus ensuring they are in debt for decades to come, thus keeping them unable to move up economically. If anyone is blind, it is YOU! You let the fact that she's conversative/right wing prevent you from seeing all the good points she's making.
