It should never go off and that may be a problem that needs to be address. However, I see an alarming number of comments with people dropping their guns. Are they not holstered properly? Why would you just have it in your hands and not on your waist securely? Weird how many people would risk shooting a bystander by being clumsy.

Sig actually had the recall and put a groove under the slide to negate it from drop firing. Century received my mc9 January 2nd and I’m still waiting for results. Everything you said is valid and I checked everything you pointed out in the video. Hopefully Canik will return mine with details.

So about 20 mins ago i was walking in the house and had a bunch of shit in my hands...my gun (in the holster) was in my hand with one in the chamber. My dog charged me when i walked in and the pistol fell and landed flat on the back. I picked it up and saw that the striker had been released. It spooked me because i would have probably been struck. Im just grateful it didn't go off.

I see where you are coming from for sure and would love to agree, my mc9 dates 1/31/24 and has about 600 rounds through it so far. I was able to replicate the drop failure 4 times out of about 30ish drops. So now I am curious to see what could be the cause of the drop safe failing. I still carry mine though.
@S.0.G

It's because these are pre cocked. So upon impact, there's a chance the firing pin is activated. Looks worse on Canik simply because they have a striker indicator and we can visually see it happen. Most other guns that are "pre cocked" may also do this but we would never know since we can't visually see the firing pin without the striker indicator. Luckily Canik has an additional safety that I talked about here called the safety plunger which stops the pin from making contact with the primer. Hope this helps and I all carry mine too lol 👍🏽

@S.0.G that's the reason I won't edc anything but a glock at the moment. The firing pin isn't fully cocked until the trigger starts moving. Most manufacturers won't go that route imo because it makes a squishy trigger and everyone wants a 1911 trigger in their polymer guns and that just isn't realistic.

So I’m confused. Do the MC9s have reported drop incidents or was it just BS? I have one and now I’m nervous
@S.0.G
9 ай бұрын
A handful of people had a concern when they dropped theirs and the striker went off (gun didn't shoot just the striker). I have a video of those incidents and me trying to repeat the process. There's been 1 alleged case of someone's actually going off but not much detail on it. Honestly, I wouldn't worry. As I showed in this video, it's nearly impossible for the MC9 to go off on its own. You've got a great gun nothing to worry about 👍🏽

Worried? If you carry appendix I'd worry a little lol or at least get a pee pee touch in before you holster lol jk but I won't carry one until it's for sure fixed. Bit to each their own, I mean how many people were still carrying the p320 when it definitely was NOT drop safe and would fire a round? Something you'll have to think about.

question, is it normal for the firing pin to strike when dropped? Or is it just some that have this issue?
@S.0.G
9 ай бұрын
Great question! I'm not 100% sure to be completely honest. Given the fact that only some do it tho, I'd expect it not to be normal. Also, some striker fired guns come pre-cocked or fully pre-cocked internally and I believe this is why it can happen with certain manufacturers. Canik has a great (light) trigger system so I am guessing it's internally pre-cocked. Any gun that comes this way may experience this nuisance but also why it's important tit comes with multiple type of safeties. For example, the safety plunger showed in the video. Hope this helps!
@michaels0324
9 ай бұрын
With it not being probably "normal" shouldn't it be addressed by Canik? I understand your video and that it should still be safe but it's a defect that should be fixed. I for the life of me can't get Canik to respond. I know one of the guys at Classic Firearms and am about to get them involved in this. @@S.0.G
