I met Junior in the 80s when he was playing with a buddy of mine. He was huffing these big old stogies, so I told him I had a friend with a tobacco store and would send him some rarities. He gave me his card (which I still have) so I sent him so many cigars, he smoked them all and then quit smoking shortly afterwards. He also told me the funniest Musselwhite story ever.

This is one of my favorites. I have this cd and you'd think there was nothing but this on it 'cause I listen to it over and over. I love to listen to it while driving. It's fun to swing dance to it also. Today's music doesn't even compare, not by a long shot!!!! This 63 year old grandma still likes her rock and roll. I'm stuck in an old body, but my soul is young....who's that old lady looking back at me in the mirror??

Once when he was playing at the Slippery Noodle in Indy I asked him if he got to play any of his jump stuff when he was in Canned Heat, he told me it was only the Canned Heat repertoire. He lied to me! Haha! He's truly one of the best in this genre, I steal every lick I can from him.

"The Mole" is not only alive and one of today's top blues bass players, he's also the one playing the bass in this video. FWIW, I have seen them play in this lineup and IMHO it was the best and most entertaining Canned Heat I have ever seen or heard ... YMMV. Canned Heat was constantly replacing members throughout theit whole career so this is not more or less canned heat as any other version of the band.

You sir are one of the only people I've ever seen rival Junior Watson for having infinite ideas on the instrument. I'm friends with Steve Guyger and have watched a lot of your stuff together on youtube. I just saw Junior in NJ this year and he was fantastic. It was a spectacle. I'm sure you rarely make it over to the states but if you are ever in the Philly area and are around I'd love to see you do some stuff with Guyger here. You're the real deal and so is Junior! Hope all is well with you sir!

as a long long REH fan and admirer-i have to agree. he's not had it easy-yet his soul is SO deep sweet and all-reet. not to mention what he does to those strings. i love a musician who can combine genres and do it with ease. REH and i have some things in common-and 30+ yrs later we are still standing and defying the odds of doin what we've done these yrs. and humble? cant get more humble. shuffle on-all!

I seriously do not get the interest in this guy as an "amazing" guitarist. His style is a "Lolly Pop" cheesy. There are equally good if not better, more melodic or lyrical player or interweave jazz into their blues and who are smoother and quicker. I mean he's good just not THAT good iMho.
