Excellent information. I love to see young women carrying on this wonderful food preserving method. Living in Florida where hurricanes can be quite devastating, this is imperative. Thank you and your husband for your service! My eldest retired from the USMC two years ago after 22 years of service, including two deployments. May God richly bless you and your family and provide endless prosperity in your business endeavors. 😊

First of all, you are beautiful. First time watching and new subscriber. I like this idea of canning rice. Will have to give it a try. Thank you for sharing.

I use the Dollar General jars as well. I have used the lids for fruit in case they don’t seal. However, beans, veggies, and meats I do not. Also, I canned rice after watching Homestead Heart 3 years ago. I made rice pudding with my plain rice for the first time 10/16/2023. My pudding was delicious! No more cooking rice just for pudding. 🥰

Wise information here, I totally agree with you! I do reuse my canning lids though and have never had an issue. They have to be in perfect condition, I typically reuse for beans and cheap things. You may want to hang on to them! You also reminded me to get my 5 gallon jugs filled with water and stored..it's very important to be prepared in these times. God bless!

Smart lady. The time will come when we don't have resources. An old man in our neighborhood about five years ago told us the day would come when the stores would be empty. I think few believed him but it was an arrow went through my heart and his words spoke truth to me. Rice, beans, wheat berries and a grain mill at least is a wise investment, especially for those with children.

Exactly what I have been thinking about canning things that require a lot of water to make. My big push now is to do one jar meals. $11 a pack for jars?! I wish! At least $17 at Walmart!

I've been canning brewed coffee and tea for the same reason - what if we cannot easily access clean water at some point. I haven't tried them though. Have you ever done coffee or tea?

Great idea to prepare these things the take resources that might be hard to get during a time of crisis, particularly water used for rinsing and soaking!

Can water as well. It will be sanitized water where you can use it for more than drinking as long as it’s more than 10 or 15 min in a pressure canner. Like if you need one more jar to fill you canner do a jar of water.

Just going by the video looking into the canner with the jars going in the water, the level looks too high ? No more than 2 inches of water before adding jars.

I don't know how to say this without sounding like a bitch but the water level is much lower than that it is the first line from the bottom of the canner 3 quarts of water is all you need I really hope this helps you in the future It is in the canner book 3 quarts of water a little more for good measure.

@@joette3477 Please look it up and do your own diligence. Canned rice can show mold in the canning jar months after Canning. This is not approved by the USDA. Please look it up and refrain from Canning rice. NOT WORTH THE RISK

@@daytonn243start your own channel if you want to follow strict guidelines. Stop directing people when you do not put in the work for it. People have canned rice for years and years without the government nose in it
