I’ve never seen a jar break before. Sorry, but I am glad I got to see it. I would have thought something was wrong with the tomato’s.

Nice canning video on stewed tomatoes. Always hate to see a broken jar and a qt. too. I have some of those jars I got back in the 1970's. No telling how old they are.

You ROCK!!! Thank you for sharing this. No one ever shares when they have a leak or break and it’s part of canning! We’re ALL gonna have it happen sooner or later and unless ya teach the new canners they’ll never learn. And honestly if I seen one more person can crushed tomatoes and call them stewed tomatoes I was gonna scream! Hahahaha Stewed tomatoes have onions, celery, garlic and sometimes green peppers people! GEEESH! LOL I’m teasing of course but I do wish folks would call them what they are...again because the new folks won’t know the difference. I guess I’m being picky but honestly there is a difference. Most importantly the processing. New folks need to know that once you’ve added the other veg you gotta pressure can it not just water bath like with plain tomatoes. Soooooo after all that fussing...Hahahaha Thanks for showing the REAL DEAL WAY TO CAN! 😆 God Bless ~Lisa

You are awesome Lisa.... I am with you on the stewed part. They need to have garlic, onions, and celery as well as stewed down to make them great.. I usually have a jar break at least once a season but I was really glad I got it on video cause it is good for new canners to see and know what to do....Thank you Lisa

WHY can’t you water bath when there’s other vegetables in with the tomatoes???🧐🧐 I don’t own a pressure canner and my mom didn’t either- she always water bathed her stewed tomatoes?? I’m very curious... thank you! 😊

Rewatching again this year now that I’m getting ready to can. Do you remove the seeds and gel from the tomatoes before putting them in the pot? I’m not seeing any seeds. Looks delicious 💕✌️🌱

u r amazing. we could just watch your videos all day. you make canning and cooking looks so easy. but I'm still scared. can you pressure can on an electric hot plate? because we have the glass/ceramic stove top and I don't know if you can use them for pressure canning.

Though I have never used a hot plate but I have many friends who have used their BBQ grill to pressure can. I imagine a portable electric coil or gas burner will work well, But you would need to make sure it is level and sturdy and secure. Also make sure it is high enough to allow good air flow underneath it like say 3 or 4 inches off counter. you should have good luck canning if you check the manufactures directions on the hot plate or even call them with this very question.. Thank you Marie.

Thanks for sharing. I need to get me a canning pressure cooker, it seems so much easier than any other way to can. Can you do jams and jellies this way?
@LittleVillageHomestead

Jams ans jellies are water bathed cause they contain lots of sugar. Thank you Sandra...

Don't , you have to put lemon juice in that?.And also, I thought you were to cover the jars with water.

When you pressure can stewed tomatoes you do not need to add acid and also with a pressure canner, you only add 2-3 inches of water. Now if I was going to water bath them, then I would add acid and cover with water.
