This, for me, is by far the most exciting filmmaking tool to come out in a long time. It's a compact C300 Mark III with an internal data rate that outperforms the S1H. 1.46x Super 35 DGO Sensor, Cinema 4K, CLog 3, Internal ND. Only needs two SD cards, mini-XLR to XLR cable, two extra batteries! No need for a cage. As someone who's used quite a few of the Canon Cinema lineup to date, this is a tremendous feat! Bravo to Canon!

Missing is Raw, but Canon will save that for a more expensive camera, not even via HDMI/USBC with ProResRaw, but can’t have everything, maybe the Sony FX6 will offer everything? I've used it a ton exactly like that. I personally prefer, most of the time, being able to mount a larger battery rather than have one completely enclosed internally - like the Z-Cam, Kinefinity, or even the Ursa line - but it's down to preference and use-case. Canon seems kind of mixed up. All of its prime cinema lenses are full frame, but it mostly has Super 35 cameras. Its newest lenses, the Sumire, are PL only, but it costs a lot extra for a PL mount, and they don't have an adapter for their newest camera, the C70, which is using an entirely new mount, the RF. In addition, all of its zoom lenses are Super 35, but if you install the .71x adapter on the C70, these lenses won't work right. How many years will it be for them to get all of this straightened out? They could start by offering the Sumires with an EF mount.

David de Juan Navarro if they can offer more rf lens for apsc/super 35 it would be better. Just like somy e mount. They know the need of customer such as 18-105 lens for their run and gun camera fs5

@@thomasyeung A shorter flange mount was always going to be on the cards so I am not suprised that this camera has it and you can adapt EF lenses so easily with no drawbacks so I really don't get the complaints. If you were losing AF or optical performance I would understand but you aren't and you are getting the ability to use the better, though pricey, RF glass and a huge range of other lenses using adapters. Great review. I had the C100 MK2 and was considering the C200 (I do non sync video with the Leica SL2) but need to test whether the mini XLRs are as good quality for synced Audio as that on the C2oo. Thanks for the review.

I have the GH5 for it's great image quality and dynamic range but it's missing the auto focus and 120 slow motion in 4k. This camera looks like it's my next camera! Excellent review guys I just subscribed and will tell others about you. Please keep making these in-depth videos that are much appreciated 🤟

I bet Canon will soon be releasing a C200ii with all the C70 features, plus R5 IBIS & RawLite, maybe next year.

DPAF field reduction to 60% with the .71 adapter seems like a little bummer? But maybe it's not an issue while shooting in the real world.

Good afternoon, congratulations on the review. I currently have a SONY HXR NX80, I am a freelance cameraman and I would like to evolve. I am interested in the Canon C70 with a 100-500 lens or Sony A7Siii with a 100-400- lens, which do you think would be the best option considering that I would need it to record ballet in theaters where it would be located in the audio room in the background and only with the stage light. The precision of the autofocus is very important to me and the camera would be on a tripod with a zoom servo. Thank you very much and greetings from Lima Peru.

I’m debating between the c70 and the panny s1h. I like the features of the canon much better but wonder if the 6k abilities of the s1h to over sample will result in better/sharper images when outputting to 4K vs the canon that only shoots 4K. I’d love to see someone do a comparison of the two

I don't appreciate the lack of an SDI output, as the use of the USB connector not suitable for recording on an external HD in raw mode and especially with the EF-EOS R adapter costs more than the C200
@CVPTV

Yeah it's a shame about the SDI, you can't shoot RAW at all currently and with a regular RF to EF it's cheaper than a C200 and has a far better sensor! Jake

@@CVPTV Of course I was talking about the new adapter. In Italy the C70 + new adapter costs more than the C200

Great entry level camera for low/no budget production. Lack of timecode & SDI may also be a factor for some productions unless recording to an Atomos.

You did an amazing job of reviewing the c70. I'm assuming it doesn't do stills? Hopefully, they change the mounting situation. Thoughts of when this might be coming out?
@CVPTV

Thank you David, it has a very limited stills function, now RAW just JPG. A simple cage or plate will do the trick. And as in shipping date?

It's too bad that the auto iso / AE function is not available in Clog2.... !! Do you think that Canon will be fixing that with a firmware ? Thanks !

Do you still get 5 axis stabilisation when not using an RF lens? is the IS or AF slower when using a canon speed booster and EF 24-105 vs the RF version of the lens? Do you keep 5 axis IS with the adaptor? Thank you.

Looks like a great camera and to my eye a more pleasing image than the Sony FX-6. Also the touchscreen CAF scores over that camera. I think for corporate work the Sony will be perceived in the industry as the go-to standard, especially as this one doesn't quite look like a "pro" camera. I presume it does not output RAW, as it does not have an SDI port. The biggest downer for me is the small screen and no EVF, which make this a young person's camera! Thankfully it has excellent focus aids, but for framing I always do better with an EVF or minimum 5" screen.

Do you guys think there’s a difference in image quality between the C70 and FX6? Or are the differences more about ergonomics and User Interface..?
