Hi! So glad it helped... It is way better than using also a USB cable that in conjunction with the HDMI cable will create a force in the camera that is not desirable, well that is my point of view. I bought also a M200 that has native clean HDMI, but still have my M50 and is heavilly used to record videos, but also to take pictures. I will always use it for pictures instead o M200, the display is awesome and easy a lot the work, is a excelent camera. The only "issue" is the clean hdmi that as to be "hacked".

Hey! Thank you for your nice comment, glad to help. I was hoping to that Canon will solve this issue in M50 Mark II, aparentelly, its the same... To reinforce the equipment in the studio I also bought the Canon M200 in a very good deal and in that point, is awesome, the clean HDMI output is a very nice feature, but overall as camera, I still prefer the M50.

The EOS Webcam Utility (and the EOS Utility) doesn't really give you clean HDMI as it has nothing to do with HDMI. You lose framerates and your maximum resolution is only 540p. Not really ideal, when an HDMI capture card can give you full 1080p, with up to 60fps. But then, no autofocus... unless you have the focus box. So frustrated with Canon.... The M50 MKII fixes this, but so could a FREE firmware update.
@TechCornerTVReviewsTips
3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, thats why YOU WILL NOT USE EOS Web Utility for streaming, please follow the video. The streaming will be done with HDMI cable connected to a Envato Camlink 4K or similiar product. The connection to EOS Utility is only to keep the camera on while you work. If I connect my Camlink directly to the computer (not using a USB extender) I can get 4K in the HDMI, well at least is what OBS auto configures. If I use a extension cable it detects 1080p FHD. The use of the EOS Web Utility is just a "trick" to keep the camera connected and don't allow it enter in powersave mode (that also can be disable but doesn«t work so well).
@TechCornerTVReviewsTips

One more note about the autofocus, it can't be used because of the auto focus detect box. I saw here a video of someone that used a software for digitaly remove the white box from the feed, but that compromises the image quality and seems a bit unnecessary, since normally on a stream you will be on static position, anyway, if you consider really necessary you have a software that will do that digitally. The point is Canon blocked this features and nobody can understand why.... why do we have in the screen a box for auto focus when we specifically specified that all information should be off... well, for this to work the auto focus should be off.

@@LAVIDADELASHORMIGAS Thank you for your support. The idea is to use the HDMI so you have clean and FAST feed and don't have to depend on the EOS Web Utility feed that is slower and let you have drag effect if you move to fast :) Glad you liked, happy to help!

Thank super useful. Only missing part for me is where and how you do the recording? Using the Cannon Utility? Or did you mean using something like OBS to record the HTMI stream? If so streaming and recording will be almost impossible for "average" laptops
@TechCornerTVReviewsTips

Hi Eli, I use OBS to record and use it to manage the multicam, no special resources are needed to record, but never tried to stream. If you do it, let me know later how it went. Thanks for watching and have HNY! 👍💪

@@TechCornerTVReviewsTips ok cool, yea because i have a use case where i want to record the stream and from what I saw other people tell is that to record and stream simultaneously with OBS will melt your machine :) So back to what you said, just to sort it out for myself: - Canon Utility is needed to prevent the sleep mode (only on Wifi, or via usb too?) - Recording a stream in OBS using a capture HDMI card will prevent the 30 min record limit? Lastly, is there any quality reduction when recording directly to OBS vs recording directly to the card on camera? especially with 4k?

Thank you for the tutorial. But, i do have canon M6 and it cant connects to the EOS utility 3. Any guideline?
@TechCornerTVReviewsTips
3 жыл бұрын
It should. When you say you can connect to the EOS utility, are supose that you're talking about WIFI, right? Try to set a fixed IP on your Canon and ping from a DOS (or mac terminal) the fixed IP, something like "ping 192.168.1.50", considering that the IP you set for your camera is 192.168.1.50... if you can ping it, it means that the camera is correctly connected to the network and the problem might be on the PC, check firewall, etc. If you can't ping it, you propably have some problem in the configuration. Hope it helped. Another thing, please make sure that when you download the EOS utility, used the version for the M6 not M50, im not sure if that matters, but I had some issues with M200 also connecting to the PC and solved with another install of the EOS Utility.

Hello, look you don't need the USB cable, don't use a USB cable because if the image passes trought USB cable will have a drag effect. Use the HDMI with a capture card like Cam Link 4 or other. The secret is HDMI + WIFI, no usb cable. And you can't use the EOS 3 app to record, you should use something like OBS or any other software, but using the video (HDMI) capture card. Hope this comment helps.

Hi Clement I got the solution to help you record and connect to Atem mini without the camera turning off. Connect both usb and hdmi. USB to computer turn on canon software and select live. Then also connect hdmi out to atem mini. This is a jail break. Try it this works finally!!!!Share with all thank me later

Trust me... IF you are considering a camera for streaming - the M50 just isn't it. Yes you can do it by USB with full autofocus and everything - but with much lower resolution as a tradeoff - and you can do the high resolution on the hdmi output but not have the autofocus. For streaming - M50 is unsuitable. I absolutely LOVE my M50, but when it comes to streaming, I don't even want to spend the cash to buy the dummy battery. If streaming is your thing - just buy another one instead. Dont' try to make the M50 into something it isn't hehe. It might work fine if you don't have a wide open fast lens on there, but once u start to wish for a more shallow dof and you start slapping on real lenses on it - you will also wish you had a different camera. But hey - Streaming with a tradeoff is better than no streaming at all. So if the M50 mark1 is what you have, use it - after all it's a chunk of money to buy one. But don't go picking up a second hand one or even a new one for the purpose of streaming just because this video says you can do it - it's just partly true - coz you're gonna be annoyed by the limitations and tradeoffs.

Hi! I agree and I can even say that, I bought a M200 also that is much better in terms of HDMI output, it brings that funcionality out of the box. But thats not the point, if you have the M50, how can you use it to stream? I use mine like that and I don't even stream. You might argue, thats not the right camera you should use for streaming.... I know, but if you have one and don't or can't spend more money, I gave you here a solution. You're right, it doesn't allow you to use the autofocus, but you can use the 22mm or 50mm depending on where the camera is. This video was recorded in the beggining of the channel, nowadays I believe they're a bit better (I'm in no way a photography expert). I use the M200 for recording the videos directly to OSB and use M50 to take the photos or frecording product close ups. For product top recording on the table, I have also mounted on a hover tripod a Logitech Brio 4K that is amazing for a USB camera. Anyway, thank you a lot for your comment, was quite complete and thanks for watching. 👍

Hi sir, thanks for the great video! We would like to use multiple M50 cameras that we purchased a while ago to have a multi-cam stream. Will this work for at least three canon M50’s as well (3 usb camlink inputs)? Edit: maybe even 3 direct hdmi inputs into the pc using a video capture card installed inside the pc with three hdmi inputs? Also will I be able to connect 3 cameras simultaneously over the wifi with one pc?
@TechCornerTVReviewsTips
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely! But in OBS you can record/stream only the output so, you can have several input camlinks connected and exchange the output between the inputs (like a reggie), its what I do in my review videos, where I have the front camera and secondary top camera.
