Is worth upgrading from the R50 to the R8? Basically for photography?

The R8 is a lot of camera for $1500. The biggest miss for me with this camera is the LP-E17 battery. If it had an LP-E6N battery I’d buy one in a heartbeat as a B camera to accompany my EOS R6 Mkii (and to replace my EOS R). The R50 looks to be a great beginner camera.

It's kind of deceptive to call the 55-210mm lens an f/5 lens when, of course, it's f/7.1 at the long end. You make it sound like a constant aperture lens when it isn't. Same with the other zoom lens. I get it. You want to play down how dim these lenses are now at the long end. But that's shady

I also bought the Canon R50 with the 18-45 mm lens but the lens cannot be completely retracted so it cannot reach the completely closed original position. I don't know if my description was understandable but is that normal or is my lens broken?

I've hit the mark in my real estate media company where some clients are now wanting full frame. And I get it, I moved on from the Canon M50 to the R50 about a year ago. They all like my work as the R50 has proven to give professional results every time. Sure, there is some distortion with the wide-angle Nisi 9mm f/2.8 lens. But at least 95% of that has been corrected in post by my amazing editors. Can anyone recommend an affordable full frame from the R50 and the best lens to go with it for shooting real estate photos and video? Some have already said the Canon R8 is a great choice.

The R8 is making me reconsider getting the new Panasonic S5ii. As a filmmaker, being able to shoot full frame 10-bit 422 with a $1,500 camera is a game changer. Seriously. I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on the S5ii. Plus, Canon captures skin tones better than its competitors. Wow. Big news. Thanks, B&H.

The S5II has a lot of things this doesn't Higher res/larger EVF, Dual card slots, Mag alloy body, AF joystick, bigger battery capacity, IBIS, full mechanical shutter If anything this camera makes the S5II look very appealing (at least in Europe prices etc)

Seriously considering the R8 because of USB-C power and limitless, per say, record time. I have a Ninja V, so single card slot is not an issue. But, can the R8 record to both the SD card and external recorder?

As someone who had the ZV-E10, if you're going to be shooting selfie video, the R50 will likely be better. I like the ZV-E10, but the battery life is pretty bad, screen is very poor, the picture quality is good but not great, and the camera is frustrating to use because there are very few physical controls, yet Sony didn't bother implementing proper touch controls. Canon has much higher video specs on the R50, and it will be easier to use, as every Canon in the last 5 years has had great touch controls. One thing the Sony has is more choice of native lenses, but Canon has the basics covered now. The R8 will be much better than either, though, but it costs almost $1k more, so that's no surprise.

Here's a question about the EVF, since its a screen does it change with the camera settings, as in, will what I see in the EVF be what the photo is when taken? Or does the EVF simply copy the function of the mirror and you have to look at the screen after the shot is taken to see how it came out?
@BandH
Жыл бұрын
The EVF will match the screen when you change the settings. Basically, you will see the what your photo will look like before you capture it in the EVF.
@blackbugmedia

If this is like my R6 Ii, it will give you options to “simulate exposure” in the viewfinder, or turn “simulation off”, which makes it behave like a mirror. You want to turn it off when you do studio shoots with strobes. Otherwise the viewfinder will be completely black before the flash pops.

How is the autofocus of the r50 when shooting in 4k 24fps? Have you tried to pair it with the Sigma 18-35mm?
@BandH
Жыл бұрын
The Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Digital Camera has great autofocus performance when shooting 4K video. If you are racking focus between two items at large distance differences, there may be a slight pause between the beginning of the focus change, but the focus itself is smooth and fast when using a lens with a good focus motor. You may mount the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Canon EF to the *Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Digital Camera using the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R* _(B&H # CAMAEFRF)_ or similar adapter.

Great video, but I'm not impressed with Canon's release. Is it safe to say that Canon won't allow any third party lenses for these either? F/4.5... really? It seems like Canon is just trying to fill out the R line until they run out of numbers. With exception of the autofocus, the R line doesn't really impress me. My 5d MKIV and my M6 MKII are still very viable systems. I've been a Canon shooter for 20 years, but for some reason I'm not feeling it as of the last 2-3 years.

@@BrianHallmond r8 is full frame. firstly, low light. r8 would be better. secondly, r8 has uncropped 4k60. r7 has two 4k60p mode and the sharper one is cropped. thirdly, most rf lenses are made for the full frame, so you would get a better overall image quality. fourth, you would get more bokeh, using the same lenses. r8 has digital stabilization and that is very good for vlogging. you can search, r8 with rf 16mm for vlogging. its great. the advantages of r7 is, firstly, dual SD card. which is irrelevant tbh, unless youre doing some once in a lifetime paid event. but even then its not relevant imo. secondly, r7 has bigger battery, which would last for about 2+ hours continuous, and r8 battery last for 1+ hour continuous. the ibis is irrelevant tbh. so even i would recommend the r8 over the r7 in all circumstances. even for action or sports as its got 40fps. maybe r7 for wildlife.
