I added one to the stable a while back, also upped from R to R6 and R5 so glass is getting crazy.

Nice! How would you compare the R5 and R6? Lens game is definitely a slippery slop Canon set up :(

Thanks Albert for the great review of the RF 35mm F1.8. Currently I am using Canon RP with EF 28mm F2.8 and EF 50mm F1.2, and I am thinking of selling them and having RF 35mm F1.8 and RF 85mm F2 instead. May I have your comments on this please? Thanks.

the 35RF and 85RF might be not as wide as to your liking since they’re both gonna be a big tighter, i would recommend the 35RF but feel like you should keep the 50 1.2!

Hello sir: Please help and give me some advice, The camera I am currently using is Canon EOS R10, The kit lens used with it is (RF-S18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM) My main subject matter is toy photography. The secondary shooting content is street photography or portrait photos. Now I want to buy new lenses, after watching your video, Want to be Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM and RF85mm F2 Macro IS STM or RF 35mm 1.8 STM After making a choice, I would like to ask you to give me some advice on which lens is more suitable for me? Thank you.🙏🙏🙏

Thanks for your thoughts here. Would love to grab this lens but will have to wait. Just picked up some FD glass, 28mm macro 2.8 and a 135mm. Going to work on my manual focus skills and save some cash to get the Canon 85 f2 or the Samyang 85 f1.4. (I think we know which of those you would pick 😁)

A really nice lens. When the R system came out this one was considered an L lense prime even if it actually wasn’t. But basically every channel recommended it as a must have and I agree. For the price it offers so much. 35mm f1.8 + Macro + IS. It’s basically a all in one prime. I used to use it for weddings and detail shots and it always delivered. Currently switched to Rf 28-70 f2 but I still use the 35 for traveling as it’s also very small and Light

What's the other non-L lens that you love? Thanks for the great video! Liked and subscribed.

Hey Albert! Awesome video! I have a plant channel and want a lens that can shoot good macro. But also want to be able to use this lens for my outdoor adventures. Is the macro on this good enough to get great shots of plants and insects? Or would you recommend something different?
@albertthoughts

Yes!! It definitely is a solid lens for both - although for outdoors if youre doing street photography, its amazing, if landscape, it could get a little tight.

Here's another con to the RF35, at wider apertures than f.4, it ghosts like crazy under some shooting scenarios. (Eg, a shot of a back-lit sign at night) The RF 24-70 and RF 50 1.8 don't do it. Other than that, it's muy bueno.

Just wondering what particular lenses the RF mount you want that is not out yet??? Yep the'll be more but that statement is so 2018 at this point.

Is it sharper than (or as sharp as) the Samyang 85mm 1.4 RF?
@albertthoughts
3 жыл бұрын
yes definitely, it's just as sharp if not a tad bit sharper.

I have an RP with a RF 50mm f1.8 but also adapter for 28-75 f2.8, So I have a lot of ranges covered. Im bouncing between getting a 85mm and a 35mm. With the 50mm, if you had 1 lens of the two which would you choose? I've even thought of the 85mm macro so I can kind of have it all.

I would go with 35 1.8 it's a very solid all-arounder and definitely as fun as the 50. but the 85 would be only marginally better than your 75mm at f/2.8 in the bokeh, albeit sharper on the RF 85

I saw in the specs from Canon that the body of EOS RP is Magnesium Alloy, not plastic. So am I getting something wrong?
@albertthoughts
3 жыл бұрын
they usually specify if the whole body is made of magnesium alloy, it seems the RP and R6 both have a magnesium chassis and magnesium parts instead, though this is all they say on their websites

Hello and thank you for your video. Sorry I'm French and don't really understand the technical terms ... A question that I still ask myself: I have the Canon 35 f2 is usm (which I could mount on the Canon RP Via an adapter ring), it is not much heavier than the RF 35 f1. 8 is stm, and I should get pretty much the same image renderings right ? Apart from the fact that the 35 RF is almost macro, is it worth it for me to sell my 35 f2 is usm to buy the RF 35 f1.8 is stm or not ??? Thank you in advance for your answers, Sincerely, Philgood ...

Hi! I think there's no need to sell your EF and buy a new RF lens unless you are completely changing all lenses to RF.

@@albertthoughts In fact, I preferred to take another option. Rather than having a single versatile lens like the Rf 35, I chose to buy the RF 50 f1.8 for portraits (that's it), and I reserved the RF 16mm for pre-order. f1.8 which will serve me more for Landscapes or indoors ... I like the fixed focal lengths. Sincerely, Philgood ...
